All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

we just recently changed our reservation from from riverside to music. i need an accessible room. does anyone know where they are located?

Can anyone confirm how long it takes to walk from AS Music to AS Movies and from AS Music to AS Sports if we are staying in the Jazz or Calypso buildings (in a family suite)? If we stay in a family suite here we may be interested in walking over to visit the other All Star resorts' food courts and taking advantage of some photo ops by the different icons. Thanks

What kind of bed set-up would they give a party of 3?? 2 Adults/1 child. I was told there aren't any pull-outs or roll-aways...but where do they expect my daughter to sleep if we have a king, or even 2 doubles? In bed with us?? Which wouldn't be so horrible if she wasn't one of those sleepers that toss and turn the whole night.

Also how far is the furthest room from the place where the shuttle buses are?

TIA!! =)

your daughter would sleep in the bed next to you, or.. one of you would sleep with her, and the other alone. where do YOU expect your daughter to sleep?

we walked to ASMovies. I'd say about 5 minutes?

I was half hoping what I heard was wrong and they will give us a roll-away or cot, or something. Since that doesn't appear to be the case, she'll have to sleep with daddy, or daddy and I will share a bed, and she'll get her own. I slept with her once and got physically assaulted throughout the night...lol

If your child is over the age of 2 they won't let you book a King room. Room occupency for those is 2 people.

In a 2 bedded room you can ask for a roll-away, but from what I understand there are not many to be had. Or how about getting a child sized air bed and taking that along with you?

thank you for your reply. I think we are interested in visiting both of the other All Star resorts and maybe even walking down to the McDonalds that is close to AS Sports one day.

when we stayed at movies, in the mighty ducks section, we quickly learned that, from our room, it was a shorter walk to the Music food court, main pool, and bus stops, then to our own. but we were just steps away from our own "quiet pool" (never understod why theycal it a quiet pool,.. they mean.. smaller pool.. no guarantee it is quiet!:rotfl:). so we basically used the music amenities, uness we wanted a quick swim/sunbathing nearest to the room.

now, granted, it wasn't a "pretty" walk.. it was across a parking lot.

I don't knowif you wnat to . (or even if you are allowed?) to walk to the McDonalds. there are no sidewalks.
I know .. without a doubt.. I would have NO problem walking from Pop Century to the Swan resort for Karaokee, and back. but there is just no where to walk! (I think they do this to discourage you... they don't wnat people walking around WDW, up and down the streets.

which was why I was SO surprised.. how easy it was. from downtown disney, to sautner across the street to the Hess gas station, (street lights and al) and buy some beer, snacks etc., walk back. and board a WDW bus back to our resort.

OK, thanks for your reply. For some reason I thought the McDonalds was close to the entrance of AS Sports? If it is across a busy highway and there isn't a sidewalk/walkway, then I definitely won't consider walking to it. My kids don't need a Happy Meal that bad!

it is close to the entrance to the All Star resorts. but then you have to get from the entrance (that booth with the guy checking ids) to each of the 3 resorts. I do think sports is first. it might not be a really long walk, I'm sure I could do it, I love to walk, but I don't think there are walkways.
now I could be wrong. cause I do see CMs sometimes standing on corners waiting for a bus.

A friend & her family are staying at ASMU in October. They have a 8:30 am breakfast ADR at the Royal Table in MK. What time should they be at the bus stop? MK opens at 9:00 AM that day. Also is it correct they go all the way to the right to enter for morning ADRs to have entry for the restaurants?

So glad to have found this thread! But I've not read all the way through as I noticed the first pages are years old and figured things might have changed?

I have a couple of questions if people don't mind helping?

Firstly - I'm a Brit, I need my tea :) Is there anywhere I can get a regular cup of tea?

Second - I was thinking it would be really nice if DH and I could get some alone time, not a lot, but a little! I was thinking of hiring a babysitter, but it would cost a fortune (4 kids) if we went far, is there anywhere nice nearby just for us to be out together? If it's not worth it give me your honest opinion and we'll wait 'til we're back home :)

I would say 7:30 at the absolute latest. Once the bus shows up, it is about a 20 minute ride to the Magic Kingdom. So if they have to wait for a bus at the resort, there could easily be 40 minutes gone. And Disney recommends checking in 15-20 minute prior to your ADR. By the time they get thru bag check, and the early breakfast line to get into the park, and hour could be easily gone.

I did get tea one mornign at ASMU but can't for the life of me remember where I got it. I want to say the tea bags are at the beverage station? And you just had to tell the cashier you wanted tea and they give you the cup? That's the only thing I can think of but for some reason, the entire thing has been blocked in my mind.

LOL, maybe the tea was really bad ;) Still, I know it's available, so that suits me! Then again, since I get the refillable mug on QSDP I'll probably be running on diet coke anyway

Just because I'm curious, not trying to crash this thread, but when do we get to start a new ASMusic FAQ thread? Just asking because we have a lot of pages and for those who want the info fast, it's a lot to sort through. Plus, this thread was started in 2007...:surfweb:
