All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

I don't have small children, but I am pretty sure you can take a small swim ring in the pool. I have seen other kids there with pool toys, maybe even noodles. They also provide life jackets at the pool. :goodvibes

Fantastic! Thanks!!:thumbsup2

We'll be in the suites for the first time tomorrow! I can't hardly stand the waiting. The rooms look so great from the pictures. I'm sure we are going to LOVE it! We surprised my youngest dd with the news of our trip yesterday and showed her pictures of our resort. She fell completely in love with the calypso section, so hoping we get put over there. Of course my oldest dd is in love with the jazz section. Either way, we'll be happy we are in WDW!!! WOOOHOO!!!

Have Fun!! We're on the final countdown with just 22 days to go.

Can anyone tell me what kind of coffee maker is in the FS? I want to bring my own coffee and filters. Is it a 4 or 10 cup maker? Does it require a basket or cone type filter?

I have back/hip issues. Would it be better to ask for a room up front now or when we arrive?

Thanks

The closest are preferred and you have to pay extra for them (Calypso) Jazz is the next area and not too far. I have back/hip issues as well and we have requested Jazz and have received it each time. You can put it in your requests, if you don't receive it at checkin just ask if you could be changed. One of the trips they had us in the furthest area and I did get ours changed. If they have a room closer, they will give it to you. Of course you could always pay for preferred.

Just back from 9 days at AsMusic and we really enjoyed it! The room was spotless, CM's were very friendly, grounds were really pretty, and the food in the food court was good.

The only complaint is that it's currently 'love bug' season. I don't know the actually name of the type of bug, but if you see them you'll know why they are called 'love bugs.' The problem is that they are swarming the bus stop area. It's rather gross. The giant letters that spell out "All Star Music" are getting covered in bug remains where the bugs are flying into them. We would end up with them all over our daughter's stroller and ourselves (not smushed, just had to keep swatting them away). Fortunately, they don't bite. I have a feeling that it's like this at all the resorts, as it is simply the season and we saw a few around the parks, as well.

Bugs aside, All Star Music is our now our favorite Value Resort and we've tried all in the category.

Thanks for the review. How was the bus transportation?

The buses were consistently good, except for one morning when we waited awhile for a DHS bus. MK buses are not shared w/ the other All Stars, however Epcot, AK, and DHS, are. This made it a bit crowded on the way back sometimes. We didn't always share on the way to those parks. Over all, very good bus service.

I appreciate the info. We need to find a place to stay for our arrival date and are thinking about All Star Music. We've never stayed in any value resort and are a bit leery about the buses.

In general, the All Star buses get a bad rap. People constantly say that the 3 resorts share buses and imply that it happens 24/7. The reality is that yes they do share buses but it is only during slow periods. Rarely do you share a bus going to any of the parks in the morning. The exception to that is the TL/DTD bus....they are almost always shared from all resorts in the morning. Plus, all the mod resorts have multiply bus stops so really what's the difference?

If you are staying at ASMu even when you do have to share a bus there is only ONE extra stop. Big deal! Many people will boost POP over having it's own buses.....I guess they don't realize that POP has nearly 3000 rooms so all those people are waiting to get on the same bus. Many times at POP you have to wait for a 2nd or 3rd bus before you can get on. I have yet to experience that at any All Star resort.

Oh so true!!! Just stayed at ASMU in August for 10 nights. The only time we shared a bus was coming back from DTD. Any other time going to or from the parks we had our own bus and the service was great. :)

We're staying for 2 weeks next August and we will rent a car for a week only because I found a good deal on one. We know that we will want a couple of shopping days and it worked out cheaper to book a car for a week than just 4 days. If we didn't want to go out to the mall then we would be perfectly happy staying onsite with just the buses. I think you have to just let go of a few 'things'....the buses just are and you can't control it so why bother? If it makes or breaks your vacation then you should be going someplace else.

I agree. I stayed at AsMo last month. The only time I shared a bus was late at night, coming from DTD twice. That's it. The lines were long but the security people were constantly moving people on and off, as quickly as possible. We didn't wait long AT ALL. :)

We stayed at ASMusic in April. The transportation was amazing. First, they have CMs to queue you to ensure you are in the right line. They move you onto the bus so quickly and efficiently, you are already on your way. It seemed to me that the All Star Resorts get priority as they have a large amount of people at the resorts to move and pick up so the wait time is never as long as other resorts -- think Fort Wilderness Epcot bus. Their CMs are just stellar employees. They took our luggage as we split our stay, explained what would happen and off we went. We even gave them our laptop to move to Coronado Springs. We would :yay::yay:do this again in a heartbeat.

Check-in was the same experience. Maybe because it was dinnertime--not sure, but we were given a beautiful, corner room overlooking the piano pool. What a sweet, knowledgeable CM truly eager to please.

ASMusic as a whole does an outstanding job moving, feeding, and entertaining the throngs of people that come their way. I would stay here again without question. It truly is a VALUE resort. Thanks for the great family memories!!:goodvibes:goodvibes:yay::yay:

We just got back 2 weeks ago. Stayed at ASMu family suite and loved it. Compared to the FW cabins, I would take the FS any day. We loved the resort, the pools, CMs were great and the food court was good too. Would definitely stay there again.

We have stayed at ASMu before, and are staying there again in about 3 weeks!! We've always had great experiences at this resort. We have found the bus transportation to be very good in the past.

I do have some questions regarding online check in for the veterans on this thread. I would appreciate any guidance from those with experience with it, because we've never used it in the past. I would really just like to know if it is reliable . A poster on this thread posted that they used the service and it did not in fact check them in. Any insight would be appreciated! :goodvibes:goodvibes
