All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

I have done both POR and ASMu Family suite with my family of 5 and the suite was a MUCH better experience for us! I have also done connecting rooms at a value resort when traveling with friends and the suite was preferable to that too.

You could probably book 2 rooms cheaper because if they offer any special discounts you get the discount off both rooms instead of off just 1 suite. I booked with a AAA discount which is a % off. I felt like the suite was SO worth the extra cost.

I LOVED the queen bed in the bedroom, the desk in the bedroom, the kitchenette and the convenience of the suite. My kids really enjoyed the suite also. It was really nice to have a sofa to sit on when we got in from the parks instead of just beds. We ordered some food from www.gardengrocer.com so we saved some money there but more than just the money it was nice to have a quiet meal in the room occasionally.

I agree! We stayed at both and LOVED the suites. We are headed back the end of this month. Two other things I loved were the flat screen televisions (two!), the fact that there were three seperate sleeping beds in the living room (no kids fighting over covers and space) and the preferred location. The Calypso building is right next to the pool where there really fun activities (karaoke, games, etc) and very close to the food court and game room,e tc.

POR was nice but a long, long walk to the main building and double beds. Plus the trundle bed that pulls out was literally on the floor and smallish. And of course, one bathroom.

I also found the staff at all-stars to be really fun and kind. And we loved parking close to our rooms.

Thanks- We have a suite booked for March and I was considering canceling and getting two value rooms. I feel much better about the family suites now.

We just booked a family suite, for our December trip. I know they are located in the Calypso and Jazz buildings, but which should I request? We have a family of 7, with one child being under 1, so a stroller will be in use.

Would you suggest a ground floor, or are the elevators pretty accessible? Also, where are the bus stops located, in relation to the JAzz and Calypso buildings? Thanks in advance!:goodvibes

another question, sorry....
If I use a code, but the code is only for Sun-Thurs, but we want to check in on Sat. how do they do this do they just apply the code to the days it can be used and we pay rack rate on Sat. or would they make it 2 seperate reservations and we may have to switch rooms? Just hoping they will just keep us in the same room and apply the code, but I've read and heard somewhere that they might split the ressie? Has anyone done this or know?:confused3
Thanks for any help!:)

I can't find if there are hair dryers in the rooms at the All-Star music resort.

Please help me out. Are there Hair Dryers in the rooms.

Arriving Jan 15.

There are but they are the little round mounted to the wall not a lot of wattage ones you find universially in every hotel. I have fine med length hair so it's okay for me, but if you have long or thick hair it might be a good idea to bring your own.

ANYONE!??:confused3

ANYONE!??:confused3

I don't know. I've never received a code and they all tend to be different. I'd call and ask as you are reserving.

If you want to book the DDP for only part of the stay, then, you should book separate reservations. Or, if the code covers things like tickets or DDP, then, I would guess that you'll need separate reservations. But, if the code is just a room discount, then, I'd guess you'd be able to make a single reservation as long as you were paying rack rate for the Sat. Is there any fine print attached to your code?

ANYONE!??:confused3

I've never booked on a pin code, but when the code came out for the low rate rooms recently, I called and asked about applying it to my reservation. They told me that because the promotion was Sun-Thurs, I WOULD get the code rate for those days, then rack rate for the other days, so it worked out to saving around $5.00 total over my AAA discount. I think the code is great if you're only going for a couple of days, but otherwise, look into AAA for a longer stay.

They were doing them last week, plus afternoon activities. Last week were Little Mermaid, one of the HS musicals and um....a cartoon can't remember. Plus there was kareoke, a dance contest, trivia, a couple of water games. Personally I didn't swim, though it was warmish and the water is heated. Next time I'm thinking I might have to take a dip. This was all at the Calypso pool, I think someone said the Piano pool was closed for cleaning.

Thank you! Im glad theyre still doing that... how fun! Im starting to feel better about picking ASMu ... we didn't want to put too much money into where we will only be sleeping. Even if it is not perfect I'm excited to be going! Yay! :goodvibes

Thanks again!

We love ASMusic. We have stayed here for the past three years. We have stayed at other places, and ASMusic is still our favorite. We are staying here again in September. ASMusic is a great resort!!! You will like it!!

My husband is allergic to corn and one of the few sodas he can have is Sprite Zero. Does anyone know if this is available in the Intermission Food Court? It seems like it's becoming more popular and we are finding it more often, so hoping they might have it as a choice.

Thanks!

Yes, they had Spritezero at the ASMu food court when we were there 1/1-1/7/09. They don't have caffeine free Diet Coke any more, so I was glad that they had another caffeine free/diet alternative.

Was that at the refill station or the grab n go?
