All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

Hi. New here. Booked our stay at the All Star Music Resort for our Nov-Dec Disney vacation. Very excited! Looking forward to a great time!
Thinking of requesting for a room at the Jazz Inn or Broadway Hotel. Which do you guys think is better? The distance to the Melody Hall is not of much concern to me. The walk will do us some good! I understand the rooms at the Jazz Inn have been refurbished. What about those at Broadway?

Thrilled to have found the discussion borad. Now I can plan, plan and plan some more!

Subbing :)

Just booked December 1-8 with the new offer! :cool1:

Question: Do they still have the kids activities (pool movies, games, etc.) and, if so, would they be offered in December?

Thanks!

Has anyone stayed at All Star Music during Pop Warner week? Are there really hoards of ill-behaved teens running around being rude? Been reading about this on the internet and I'm starting to get a little concerned.:scared:

Changed out reservation using the code, changed from tent camping at FW to 2 standard rooms at ASMu (2 adults, 3 teen girls)....I was nervous about ASMu, wanted POP or ASMo, never stayed value before :confused3
But after reading all the good things on this thread I am excited to be at ASMu and will be keeping the ressie..
Thanks for all the good info.....

I love ASMu and all but you changed from tent camping? Why on earth would you do that?! Get thee on over to the Camping at Disney board!:rotfl:

Seriously, ASMu is great! Have an awesome trip.

Does anyone have a clear, easy to read map of the resort.
We want to make a room request but have no idea what that should be ... we want to be close to the bus stops.
Thanks

Somone posted on another thread that there was rehab going on which closed the game room, main door way, and part of the food court. They said that they had to walk through the food court to get to the front desk because of the construction.
I will be going on Sat. and was dissapointed to hear about the construction in the food court and my kids will be disappointed about the game room
:sad2:

Other than that one post on this thread, I still haven't heard anyone else mention a rehab nor can I find confirmation on any WDW website. I'm hoping that someone else can confirm that there is a rehab, the extent of the rehab, etc.....I do know that when POR had its food court rehab that it was listed on many rehab lists.

If anyone here has returned from AS Music within the past few days, can you please update us on the situation so we can be prepared? If the posted rehab dates are correct, then they will affect our entire trip. If I know if advance that there's an extensive rehab, I might order more snacks and drinks so we don't have to use the food court that often. TIA!

I saw someone post about the rehad on this thread in post #28:

Hopefully someone else can post about their experience with any rehabs at All Stars Music, who has just returned.

Thanks! That's now 2 people confirming a food court rehab. I wonder why it's not listed on any of the official rehab lists, as it does sound pretty extensive?? I wonder whether some menu choices will be restricted if the rehab involves some of the food court stations?

I am still excited about our AS Music stay :goodvibes and I'll plan to spend a little less time in the food court than we usually do.

Hi again. Excited about our 1st trip to WDW this Nov-Dec! Still a little concerned though... About the possibility of us being there during Pop Warner Week. Has anyone here experienced All Star Music Resort during this time? What should I expect?
We're also hoping to participate in a fridge swap! Hopefully it'll be smooth sailing and there'll be no problems. Now I'm trying to plan when and where to have our character meals. Definitely wanna experience breakfast at Crystal Palace and maybe dinner at the Hoo Dee Doo Revue. Or perhaps lunch at Chef Mickeys. What do you think?

I'm also curious about Pop Warner and AS Music for a possible future trip.

Just a quick OT note--the only time Chef Mickey's serves lunch is during the free dining period. If you eat there in Nov. then you'll have a choice of breakfast or dinner. You could do lunch at Crystal Palace and breakfast at Chef Mickey's (though I wouldn't do that on the same day :) )

Just wondering if anyone knows when the food court rehab is supposed to be completed. I hope by the end of Sept!!

Thanks Kelly! Good advise. Will definitely keep in mind. 100 days and counting...

Have you stayed at the AS Music Jazz Inn before? Seems like that's the building to stay at other than Calypso. Broadway looks really nice too.

Just returned from All Star Music Resort and regarding the construction - I asked the CM when we were there how long the construction would last and he said about 14 days. It started on 8/11/08. Hope this helps.

Good info! I hope that timeline stays true. We are arriving on the 21st so it should be done by the 24th I would hope. I am also a little annoyed that this info wasn't posted by Disney at all. I may have picked a different resort. My kids are going to be SUPER dissapointed about the gameroom. I imagine my DH is going to be walking them over to ASSp or ASM gameroom often.

I was also told that the same rehab would be done on the All Star Movies and All Star Sports. Not sure if they have been done or which one is next. If you are staying at one of these, you might want to check.

Thank you for the information! It would be nice to keep getting updates from those who are recently returning from AS Music.

We have 15 days until our trip! :woohoo:
