Hello All. Another question. Am booking a trip for Oct 06. I am going with my family: sister, her son (5), our parents and two nephews (11 & 13); we are getting two rooms one for me, sister and son; one for grandparents and boys. I went to Disney two years ago and stayed in a suite at the Boardwalk (we were bumped up due to overbooking :cool1: I tried to talk them out of a value as I'm a little worried that we'll be cramped; no refrigerator (unless I spend $70); however, the grandparents are paying so we have to do the value. Anyone who's stayed there with advice would be awesome!

Thanks so much......

We did not spend much time in our room, so we did not find the space to be such a big deal. We bought a cooler at the Walmart and pack ziploc bags full of ice around our juice beer milk etc. And it worked real well. I packed a collaspable laundry hamper for our dirty clothes and washed them before we left. I think if you have two rooms you'll be just fine. TTFN Kat

Here is the map of All Movies.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmovie.JPG
The Fantasia Buildings are the preferred buildings.
The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.
The buses are wonderful.
Bus ride times according to PassPorter.com
.
Bus rides are shorter from the ALL Stars than POP according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses------------Pop buses
MK 20 min---------------MK 25 min
Epcot 10 min------------Epcot 20 min
MGM 10 min--------------MGM 15 min
AK 10 min----------------AK 15 min
DTD 15 min---------------DTD 20 min

The All Star resorts have 1960 rooms each.
Pop has 2,880rooms.
That means more people in the pools, food court and in line waiting for the bus.
When phase 2 of POP is built it will be 2 bus stops at POP and the 2 POPs will have the same # of rooms as the 3 All Stars.

BUS SHARING
It is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes its all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's qwn bus back.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

Also All Star is closer to the main road to get to parks and thats why bus rides are shorter from there than from POP.

I  the All Star Resorts --they can't be beat. I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 5 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we stayed at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?

Have lots of fun at Disney.
I know we did!

Interesting! The same thing is happening to me! My mother and I are taking My sister-in-law, my neice (10) and nephews (8,14). So originally we wanted to give them the coolest place to stay. So we decided on Yacht. But since you can't have more than 5 to a room, I was going to get a room at the All Stars. But since this planning, I got laid off from my job :guilty: So I can't help my mom like I had wanted to. Now we aren't going until Feb 15-20 but if I still don't have a job we could have a big problem. Plus trying to figure out how to meet up with them for everything is difficult (transportation wise). I am an AP holder so I need to be there for room discount.

So then TaDa!!!! I came up with the idea for 2 rooms at the All Stars :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Here is the shocking result. We have already put down $292 for YC and woul owe $1048 for one room! Instead TWO ROOMS at the All Star total after our deposit would be $404.66!!! Okay so no SAB but it's FEB and they really can only swim at the warmest time of the day since the nights get REALLY COLD! And we have 2 rooms! 2 showers to share with the kids, 2 rooms to split them up with they want to be apart one night all girls one night boys, etc. and we will be close to each other!!! And employed or not it's affordable enough for me to go!

I think All Stars is fine and smaller yes but just keep things neat. The important thing is that you are on property and it will be an enjoyable trip!

Have fun!

I'm sorry one more thing about the All Stars. As adults we look at things differently. I look at the All Stars like a glorified Motel 6. And next month when my husband, mother-in-law and I go we are staying at the POLY. But for the kids the All Stars is a dream! We stayed in the Dalamation building for a few nights and the kids felt like they were in a wonderland, or one big birthday party. I like all those boring adult things like a Yacht theme or Contemporary, but think of it from the kids point. The arcade is big the food court is SUPER kid friendly and they can act like kids! The kids will LOVE IT!!! The adults will appreciate it for what it is.

Last month we spent 1 night at the All-Stars (G&G stayed at Poly) and then the remainder of our trip was at BWV.

You might ask the boys what sport themed area they might like to stay in. Or you could shoot to be close to the main dining/arcade/pool area. Then again, you might ask for it, then not get it.

Good thoughts above! Enjoy!

Again you guys are so full of great info. EJ your reasoning is exactly why sister wants to stay at AS Movie "its for the kids". We're booked and I'm very very very excited to be going again.
:goodvibes

we stayed at ASMo for our wedding trip and had a great time there. we stayed at the Toy Story buildings. i definitely felt like a kid when we stayed there. every day when we left our room, we walked past Andy's room and saw woody and buzz just lounging around, and let's not forget the rest of the gang as well. it's a lot of fun.
