Hi, I am planing for Easter 2008, we will be stuck to the school holidays and as the trip will only be 7 months after our 2007 trip we will be on a budget.
Don't want to book for the summer holidays(which would give us a bigger budget) as I would have just graduated university and will be looking for a job so may have interview etc.

I am thinking of All Star Movies, mainly as my dd would love it here, she loves Dalmatians so it would be really good for her to be in that building.

It would not be my first choice in restort however if it is what we can afford, I am sure we will make the best of it.

Just wondering on peoples thoughts on the resort, I am guessing it is a busy resort?

Is the a particular building that is quieter, i.e away from a main pool?

We stayed at ASMo in July 2005 (we always have to go at that time due to DH's work holidays).

We didn't find the resort very busy at all really. We stayed in Mighty Ducks Building, and tended to use that pool rather than the main one. This was always really quiet and never more than 12 people in at a time.

The foodcourt was never really that crowded either, and we did eat there a few times, although admittedly it was usually breakfast time.

From our room it was about a five minute walk to the foodcourt, shops etc.

We didn't use WDW transport tho' as we prefer to use our own hire car rather than hang about for buses.

I would definitely recommend it, and would definitely stay there again.

ASMO is a great resort! Ive stayed there 3 times and I love it there. Its big, bright, clean and full of Disney magic! Its not too busy, you can always get a table in the foodcourt and apart from when the parks are closing the queues for the buses are ok. Ive always stayed in the Toy Story block which is about a 2 min walk to the food court and pool.

I've stayed at ASMo 3 times. We were in the Toy Story Block the 1st 2 years, and Mighty Ducks this year.
I was very happy with the standards, but I felt that for some reason, the Mighty Ducks wasn't quite as nice as Toy Story.
Maybe it's because it seemed such a long walk from the Room to the Food Court, or maybe it was just because Mighty Ducks isn't one of my favourite Disney Films, and Toy Story is a favourite :confused3
Anyway - No real complaints. In fact we've booked to go again next year, and staying at ASMo again  :bounce: :yay:

I am in two minds when we went. The first time we stayed loved it loved it. The second time I was not impressed. First time we went in May 05 and stayed in Dalmations and the second time we went in Oct 06 and stayed in Toy Story. We love the theming of the hotel and there are quieter pools i.e mighty ducks, but and a big but was the transportation. It was bad. On many occassions we had to share buses with all three All Star Resorts after being at a park all day and then to find that one bus stop was for all the All Star Resorts that was not fun. It took us 45 mins to get onto a bus at Epcot and the same from MGM. In the end we decided at the end of the day we just sat down on the bench and waited for the majority of people to of gone before we went on the bus. On some occassions the buses were full when they reached All Star Movies, being the last resort it was full and only a bunch of people could go on. I found this so annoying. I am not sure if its only AS resorts, probably not but we sure had the longest line. I would look into Pop.

We absolutely love ASMo. My DDs have stayed at quite a few different WDW hotels, from value to deluxe and this is their favouite

They love the themeing and the pool with squirting Mickey. They also loved the arcade, the food court and the mini movie seating area in the registration area.

There are lots of different little touches all around the resort which I won't give away here but that are simply lovely.

We found the bus service here better than at the Moderates, but I think it really depends on how lucky / unlucky you are at the time.

I would not hesitate to return :thumbsup2

Back again :teeth:

Here's an excerpt from my Trip Report abou ASMo. I forgot to say that we stayed n Dalmations and it was no more than a two minute walk to the pool and another thirty seconds to the food court :thumbsup2

Overall impressions of All Star Movies

We loved it! Yes the rooms are quite small but we found them absolutely ample for the four of us and all our luggage (we had a lot!). The room was extremely clean and nicely themed. The furnishings are bold and brash and don’t feel deluxe in any way, but that is exactly what I had expected. The grounds were beautifully kept and the large Disney icons were a huge hit with the children as well as us! There are lots of little touches all round the resort that act as a constant reminder that you are on Disney property.

We thought the reception area was great; there was a lovely big TV screen showing Disney movies and this kept the girls entertained on several occasions (including one when we had to post a parcel and it took over an hour for the CM to work out how to do it!). The shop was every Disney fan’s merchandising dream with a great selection of toys, games, clothes, plushes and all the other bits and pieces you expect in a Disney shop. There were lots of sweets, cookies and crisps and the like and they also sold small bottles of spirits behind the counter. We were very happy with the cocktails served at the pool bar! The food court had a pretty good selection and was a reasonably pleasant dining experience – far superior to a similar set up in the UK but obviously it is cafeteria style. We thought the prices were reasonable – not as cheap as going offsite but you could easily feed a family of four for one meal for $25 or so. The refillable mugs saved us an absolute fortune! The girls gave the arcade a big thumbs up. We thought the pools were great - unfortunately we didn't get the chance to enjoy them much due to the weather!

We found the bus service excellent. The longest we waited was twenty minutes – unluckily for us that was on a cold and windy night! But apart from that time, I think we waited for under ten minutes for every other journey. I wish our local bus service - which allegedly follows a timetable but often fails to show up - was as good! It felt like a luxury to not have to drive and it is ideal when you consider how close to the parks you get dropped off and picked up. We did have to stand a few times, but it’s not like it is ever a long journey!

Overall, and bearing in mind the price we paid to stay here, the resort was even better than our expectations had been. Massive thumbs up

Just another minor point; the Dalmatians and Toy Story buildings have been classed as 'preferred' by Disney since around April of this year and as such they have a slightly higher charge. I don't know if this is passed on to bookings made here in the UK but it is certainly the case if you book direct.

I think we will give it a go, based on Miffys pictures I know my dd will love it, it seems more Disney than POP, and at POP the only thing that would appeal to dd is the Lady and The Tramp Icons, plus I have also heard the buses are also busy at POP.

oh, and with the buses next year we are booked in to POR, I am already worried about that, so hopefully I will be used to buses by then.
I will be setting some money aside for taxes based on what I have read about it.

I thought we were booked into POFQ, though just found out last week that we are not! my invoice took a while to come though, and I can not change without having to pay an admin fee.

Thank you for the info, I will keep that in mind.
If you book a preferred room are you able to request which building you would like?

I do recommend the resort especially if your child is into the themeing, but the transportation is sometimes VERY busy coming back from the parks! We were always looking longingly at the other empty lines for the buses as we waited in long lines in the evenings. Overall for the money you can't really beat the resort. :)
