All-star Movies-which Theme Area Best?

WE ARE GOING TO BE GOING IN FEB 2003 AND I AM WONDERING WHAT IS THE BEST "THEME BUILDING" TO STAY IN? I HAVE A 5 AND 1 YEAR OLD AND WE'VE DONE THE SPORTS AND MUSIC BEFORE, BUT NEVER THE MOVIES. I KNOW THAT FANTASIA IS THE PREMIUM/ UPGRADED BUILDING, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE OTHERS? ANY INFO YOU CAN GIVE ME WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Both the Toy Story section and Dalmation section are next to the main building which houses the front desk, food court, arcade, and gift shop. We have stayed in the Mighty Ducks section which is near the quiet pool and closer to the All Star Music's bus stop and food court. We just hopped on the bus there and got a quick bite in the morning before heading out for the day. I think the Love Bug section would probably be the most remote. Your small fry would probably love Woody, Buzz, or the Dalmations. Have a great time. We will be ASMO in Jan. Thinking of staying at the Music next year. Only one of the three that we have not stayed.

Id say go for whatever theming your kids like the most. Last year we requested and got Toy Story. This year, DS's first choice is Mighty Ducks(hockey has won out over Buzz this year ), so we are hoping for that.
Christianweecare did a good job expalining where everything is. IMO though, nothing is really too far away from anything. We walked from TS to MD which is one end to the other in probably 5 minutes. After 2 trips to Dixie Landings, we found ASMO to be very compact, which was nice!

I agree, nothing is really very far from anything at the value resorts, the moderates are much more spread out. Out of the 3 All Stars I prefer Music because it is easier to book and tends to be quieter because most families want Movies or Sports. But we will often walk from Music to Movies to eat at the food court or get off or catch the bus at Sports and the walk from one All Star Resort to the other is not even really much of a walk, just cut through the parking lots and one resort flows into the other. If I had to pick a theme at Movies it would be fantasia but that is because I am a hard core Mickey fan! Pick which ever theme appeals to your family and usually Disney does their darnedest to accomodate your requests.

Noticing that you said that your favorite All Star is Music and we are thinking of making ressies for there next December--which area would you recommend. We don't have to stay at the preferred building just something reasonably close to food court and bus stop. DH & I are thinking of splitting our stay between Music (thinking it might be the best for two mature adults, 40's) and AKL. Thanks for your input! Anyone else have recommendations, as well!

Hi!

I stay in Fantasia, Mighty Ducks and Dalmatians and my favorite is Dalmatians.

I like it because it's near the main building (for me, same as fantasia) and between two pools!!!

The Toy Story section, for sure ! My kids were 1 and 4 when we stayed there and they both just loved it. My 4 yr old wanted Dalmations in the worst way, but when she got to see Andy's room, she was just fine with it. My second choice would be Dalmations. I find it funny that Fantasia is the "preferred" building -- we were in building 9 in Toy Story and 2 rooms from the stair case closest to the food court. As well, I don't find the Fantasia section all that "themed" (IMHO). Your kids will love the theming of the entire resort.

Thank you everyone for all your advise. This is why I love DIS, because you get so much help and great info. I think I'm going to go with Toy Story. DH is still bumming that we're not going to AS Sports, but I know he'll love it when we get there. Who wouldn't love a 30 foot Buzz or Woody!!!??? THANKS AGAIN!
