All Star Movies vs. Pop

I've only ever stayed at Pop. Planning a trip and All-Star Movies is $50/night less than Pop. So, my question is, are all of the various advantages of Pop, including the Skyliner, worth $50/night? We plan on leaving very early in the morning most days, so I suspect we'd be taking buses anyway that early. But the fun of hopping on a Skyliner at the International Gateway and flying home sounds amazing.

For what it's worth, this is a 5-night trip so it's $250 we're taking about!

I have been going through the same decision process. I have stayed a lot at Pop, with only one short trip at Movies, which went well. The only time I was on a shared bus was Disney Springs, but there were other issues with that particular bus (which didn’t pick us up for over two hours, even with transportation CMs trying very hard to get us one. Buses at DS are always a hassle no matter where you stay.). I have an 11 night stay booked at Movies in May, and have been looking at Pop rates to see if it’s worth switching. Pop is running about $60 more per night, so $660 plus tax over the length of the trip. But I know I will spend a lot of time at Epcot for F&G. I will have my car, but hate driving to the parks. My inclination right now is to stick with Movies and save the money. I just booked a similar stay at Pop in August for less than the May Movies stay is costing me, so that is playing into my uncertainty as well. The rooms are so close to identical that sometimes I would forget I was at Movies instead of Pop.

I have had a couple long stays at Pop since the Skyliner opened, and I really like it so far.

ETA - Well, I made the switch to Pop today. Nothing against Movies, but I know the trip will be very Epcot intensive due to F&G and entering through IG made more sense with all the construction.

There was a previous comment about bus sharing at the All Stars. I was at Movies in December and there was a little bus sharing. While it's very little it does still happen. It mainly happens to Disney Springs and the waterparks but they still make multiple pick ups going to the parks midday. The returns seem to always be dedicated buses.

As to POP VS. Movies...that's a bit of a tough one for me. We have stayed 4 times at Movies/Music and 7 or 8 times at POP. The first time we stayed at POP I hated it. I thought it was too big and crowded. We then moved on to several stays at the mods. When we eventually went back to POP it was because nothing else was available and we then had 4 stays in a row at POP because nothing was available. I guess I have grown to love POP because I would go back without even thinking about it. Our last trip in December was at Movies...again because nothing else was available (there seems to be a theme here) I REALLY loved being back at Movies. The only down side was that our room was in the very furthest end of Mighty Ducks so we ended up using the buses/food court at Music more that Movies. We timed the walk and it was under 2 minutes to the Music food court and over 5 minutes to the Movies food court from our room. I'm hoping that our next trip I can book a little bit further in advance so that I can have some choices on where to stay....if available I'll book a preferred room at Movies.

We returned home from a 5 night stay at Pop just last week. It was around $225 more for us to stay at Pop than ASM. This was our first stay at Pop after having stayed at ASSp and ASM on previous trips. The extra money was definitely worth it in my opinion because of the Skyliner. Even if there is a line at the Skyliner, you hardly wait. It's continuously moving so your travel time to and from the park is much shorter than a bus (and more peaceful). The buses seemed to run more often than the All Star buses. We had a great experience with the transportation at Pop. The walls are really thin, but a fan at night helped with the noise. I'm choosing Pop again next time for the convenience. And I'm very frugal! :)

I just made this decision in favor of Movies because DD is afraid of the Skyliner. While I might coax her onto it at some point, I didn't want to have to rely on it. We stayed at Pop our last trip and loved it but that was before the Skyliner opened.

Depends on if you see Skyliner as a perk you will us or a disadvantage!

Just wanted to mention they are still running buses for POP to DHS and Epcot(albeit only hourly when Skyliner is running)so I hope Skyliner was only part of the decision not to stay at POP. :)

For the location alone, Pop is far superior. The All Stars are at the very edge of WDW property; it takes a long time on the bus to get anywhere. Pop is nearest Hollywood Studios and also quite close to Epcot.

Not really so bad-DAK is 5 minutes,DHS and Epcot around 10 minutes and MK around 15 minutes.

DAK is much closer than from POP.

But Skyliner definitely gives POP an overwhelming advantage for DHS and Epcot.

My "guess" is the next Skyliner line will be All-Star Resort to DAK if they decide to build more lines..

POP. Unless Music was a choice. Both are great. Busses and all. Always enjoy staying at either one. Skyliner. Is at pop. So.....

Like them both...identical rooms. We ended up going with Movies because it was $300 cheaper and we figured for that, we could take an uber to wherever we needed to go. As far as International Gateway, we always uber it to Beach Club and walk over.

The price also to consider. If I can get Music for less than POP. It’s always Music. Sometimes with codes they are so close I go with POP. Others it’s like 100 more for the week.. so I go with Music
