All Star Movies FAQ!!!!!

Dumb question - Anyone know if there is a hairdryer in the room?

Thanks! :bounce:

No hair dryers in the rooms but you can request one. You can also request an iron and ironing board.

Keeter, I don't know what goes on in that back room but it happened to me to. I faxed in my room request and I admit I was pretty specific. Anyway, when we checked in the CM started asking me smoking/non-smoking and I stopped her and told her I had faxed a room request. She went in the back room and came out and the room selection could not have been more perfect. BTW, I did not re-state my request in person so somewhere in the back they had my fax. Sometimes I think they just throw out a room to see if you will take it and then if you say something, they can change. This is from experience. My first room at the ASMU was the very back corner of the Country Music building. I believe it was the farthest room from the front.

AuntBJ - I think you're right... I think they do just throw out the first room they pull up to see if you'll take it. Not a bad stategy I suppose. I'm glad to hear that the same thing happened to someone else concerning the "back room"! LOL! Makes me feel more confident about hopefully being able to get our requests next year too! I swear I wish you guys could have seen our faces when she said Love Bug section! I'm sure it was priceless!

Hopefully by us posting our experiences more people will be able to get the room they request! :D

Because we have 4 kids we have limited lodging options on site within our budget. I was feeling like we were kind of "stuck" and "had" to stay at the All Stars but you guys have really made it sound great! We have 2 rooms reserved for March and have requested Toy Story. Is there a particular area that is really noisy or better as far as convenience to busses/food court in the Toy Story buildings? Looking forward to our first All Star Movies vacation!

:p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p

If I requested Toy Story when I made my ressies should I still fax my requests before we go:confused:

Yes, Mickeygirl you still should fax your request again to the Room Controller at the ASMO.

Also read my post earlier in this thread concerning our experience in getting our room requests!

You will absolutely love the Toy Story section! :D

Hi everyone, I have my ressies for April 2003 and have requested the Fantasia Bldg. as my dd requested. I wanted to know if anyone had a preference of buildings and room #'s. This is our first time here so I have no idea which room location to request although it appears that everything is going to be within good walking distance. One thing though, we'd like to face the pool.

Can't wait to go Back !!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thank goodness for this topic.

We stayed at ASMo on our first trip in 1999. In 2000 we were at DxLandings. In Jan, 2003 it is back to ASMo for us. As others have mentioned, DxL is nice, but it doesn't have "that" feel to it.

I had wondered about roll out beds since there will be 3 adults and a child. Glad to know that the roll outs are available.

I will be taking my 2 year old daughter to Disney World for the first time on November 3, 2002, we're also going along with my parents. I have not been to Disney in over 15 years, so I'm so excited to relive the magic and to be able to share it with my daughter. Anyways, as a newbie going to Disney, any tips for my room at All Star Movies that hasn't already been discussed. I saw some of you mention, faxing requests for certain things, where do you send those two and what type of special requests can you ask for?..

I can't believe it's only 55 days away!! The excitement is overwhelming!!!

I too would like to know what requests can you fax in and how (i.e., does Disney mail you a form?)

Thanks!

I am going down to ASMovies this Oct 13. I have requested three connecting rooms. How can I fax my request in? I really want to make sure we stay at the Toy Story Building. Thanks for your help. P.S. how do you enter a countdown clock?

Does anyone know if you can see fireworks from AsMo, or is it too far away. Also, we want to stay in Toy Story. Does anyone know if it's noisy facing the pool?

No, you won't be able to see any fireworks:(
but, you shouldn't have any problem with pool noise, the pool is just far enough away (at least it was from the "Buzz" building, that we never heard pool noise - and it's really convenient for the food court and buses!:D

We have always stayed at a moderate, and have been very impressed with the lush surroundings. I really like plants and trees. This next time we would like to get 2 rooms since our family of 5 is getting older. I'm just a little worried that I won't like the outside of the resort. Any comments?

Previous to our ASMo stay, we had only stayed at DELUXE resorts and let me tell you my husband was NOT looking forward to our stay at ASMo, which we were doing because we were taking my son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandsons for their first visits. We shouldn't have worried! No it's not "lush and green", but the cost can't be beat, the buildings are cute, the rooms are fine, the pool was nice, and my dh didn't even hate the food court (which he was expecting to). If we take the kids again, we're there in a second! ENJOY! I'm sure you will!!!

We stayed at the ASMU in '96 and we really loved it. We were in the Broadway building, which is pretty far from the food court, but it was so quiet and secluded, and the pool back there was never crowded. We didn't mind the food court, and enjoyed being able to park right outside of the building, close to our room. So, having such a good experience with the ASMU, we decided on our trip last year to try the ASMO. I'm sorry to say it was not as wonderful! We had requested a first floor room, non smoking, close to the food court. When we arrived and went to check in, the CM said they had put is in a first floor room, but it was a smoking room. Now my son has asthma and the last thing I wanted was a smoking room/building! So now we have to wait about 30 minutes till she goes back and forth trying to find where she can put us. Finally, we got a room in the Fantasia section, but it was the last room in the building, definately not close to the food court, but at least it was 1st floor. We found it to be not as clean as other Disney trips, and absolutely crowed to the max with kids running thru the main building where the food court is, unbelievable noise (we chose to drive into Kissimmee to eat because of it), and to top it off, there was an "incident" in the pool that grossed my kids out so bad they wouldnt go back in! The bus service this time was so slow, and so overcrowded that we had to stand nearly everytime no matter where we were going. So I guess it depends on many factors, but we thought we'd try something different this time.
