All Star Movie resort

It is fine and served our needs but for the same price we much prefer POP. The buses were much better, service better (check-in etc), and the food court food better.

We love the theming of ASMovies, and it will always be a sentimental favorite because we stayed here during our first family trip.Having said that we now opt to stay at Pop Century. It's the same price, and the bus service is much better. Our least favorite part about Movies was that it shares buses with Sports and Music. Movies is the last to drop off and pick up, so during busier times the buses are essentially full by the time they make it to Movies.

ick, ick, ick!!! I would never stay there again! (well maybe for free dining and $50/night rate :)) We just got back and our room was dirty - brown stuff smeared on the bathroom wall (mousekeeping just replaced the trash can in front of it!), hanging dust thingies coming out of the vents, not enough towels and sometimes no washcloths left, etc. Then about 1/2 way through our stay (2 connecting rooms) one room had an AWFUL smell coming from it - animal urine smell. It would not go away, housekeeping wasted hours of our time and still did not resolve the problem. Absolutely ridiculous. Rant over. I would stay at Music or Pop (music was our fave of the 2) and just take a visit over to see the theming at Movies. Have a great trip!

We love the value, the environment, and the customer service by all departments from the CMs at the front desk to the servers in the food court. Unlike the other posters, we've never had a problem with bus service (we go in the June/July time frame); I guess it all boils down to the fact that by staying at the ASMo we can go annually; if we stayed at higher-end resorts, we'd cut that to every 2-3 years, so it's a no brainer for our disney-loving family:wizard:

Pro: cheap. theming

Con: AC never cools for us. can be a hike (but not unbearable) to the lobby.

Some folks whine about the hike if you are in the outer parts, but its not that far really... I've not had a bad experience overall about the place... I like the cheapness factor, but just once I'd like a 1br suite so we can have the kids in the room, while we watch TV in the other...

I love the theming of the property, but after staying at the nicer resorts on property, I find the pools aren't as nice, the rooms are much smaller, the beds are smaller and not very comfy, there is no coffee pot (that was my biggest upset actually needing lots of coffee in the morning) and the really crowded buses.

we've yet to use a pool ( we never stay in the summer anyways). we don't drink coffee, beds are just to sleep, and when you are exhausted, we don't mind... :D

My family stayed there a couple of weeks ago for the first time. I am extremely picky about hotels, and was prepared to be disappointed (we usually stay at Marriott type hotels when traveling). During our stay, I ended up being pleasantly suprised. The rooms were small, but clean and the resort itself has a great theme for young kids!

Advantages:
Cost, Customer Service, Theme

Disadvantages:
Buses were crowded, but that could have been due to free dining.
Our room was in Fantasia and near the pool. It was loud every night until around midnight. (I wish we had requested the Toy Story, since they have a "quiet time" from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m.)

This was our first time staying on-site, so I can't compare to other resorts. (I did feel a little pang of envy every time we dined at a Delux resort restaurant). Overall, our experience was very positive and I wouldn't hesitate to book ASMo again.

We liked the theming, the icons, and the pool was nice.

We stayed here after having stayed two separate times at POP.

If we have to do values in the future, POP is the ONLY choice for us.

We rented a car while there, but the times we used the bus it seemed to take forever because of busses sharing w/ the other two All-Star resorts.

A.S. has an overall feeling of being a little older. Our room was clean, it just "felt" older.

Pool was fine, no complaints there.

Food Court was fine as well.....very similar to POP.

We stayed at ASMovies for the first time this last September and didnt have any complaints. We were in the Mighty Ducks building (standard room, not preferred) so it was a far walk to the food court, but we did have a pool right outside our building that was fairly quiet. The Food Court had great food we thought. We never waited for busses. We were actually closer to walk to the Busses at ASMusic. Even in September we very rarely combined buses with the other resorts so that was never an issue. I do agree with the PP who said the rooms have an overall "old" feeling (the mighty ducks bedsheets reminded us of Teenage Ninja Turtles).

Overall, for the Price and theming we would deffinatey stay there again. Never had any problems with the resort!!!

I've stayed at ASMo twice and POP once. Next trip will also be at POP.

Not that POP doesn't have a good theme and the cool, spooky hotels nearby, but we really love the Toy Story theme at AsMo.

POP is newer and a lot cleaner though, so that's why we're going there again.

Food is good at both, but I like the separate gift shop at AsMo.

If AsMo were cleaned up, I'd go back there, but we won't fit values after this trip. :(

Buses were probably slightly better at POP, but still slow and crowded. We just drive our car to the parks now - much easier.

POP is better located to most of the parks. AsMo is a bit further away from everything, except AK.

Hope that helps!

I have stayed at the Movies, Sports, and the Riverside PO.
I much much prefer the Value to the extra money spent at PO.

The walk to the cafeteria is nothing like taking buses or hiking from the rooms at PO. I never had a dirty room, the beds were fine, Swimming pools were great, the smallness of the site and reduced cost were the hit.

I did take my own coffee pot, and toaster. We did a small bagel and toast or cereal in the morning. Some OJ, waters and 12 pack of soda. Either a fridge swap or our collapsable cooler. We had a car also.

I just do not think the mods are worth all that extra money. If I had a dirty room I would ask immediatly to be moved.

Staff was so good and our room always clean.
Now, after staying off site in Quality Suites, Iro Bronson, by old town..the one on the right when you pull in, not the one on the left, two times, and on site about 4, if I were able to get the room offsite for half I would.

The trip this spring we paid for the Mod, and I would much rather have the $$$ after comparing the bills.
We drove and had a car, even the parking $ would not sway me. Oldest son wanted his family on site, but I really like it, bottom line I was not impressed for the cost at the mods.

As long as a code or season cost reduction the Values we're good, but a suite for less with two bedrooms, kitchen dishwasher, living room and great amendities I will likely go for next time.

On site is nice, but bottom line it is the savings now every dollar saved is one more for fun and food.

We've stayed at ASMovies twice and loved it both times.

Our biggest issue was with check-in on the Saturday when we arrived. It took almost an hour to check in (the lobby was total chaos!)...but that could be due to the day (Saturday) and the fact that it was during a 'free dining' time of year.

Other than that it was nice. The food court is usually busy, but not so bad that it's unbearable. Sometimes the bus service was slow ... but again, not unbearable. Although, know that the ASMovie will be the last drop off for the All Star resorts ... so coming 'home' from the parks with tired kids could prove challenging.

We had enough room for the 4 of us - even with a pack and play and a mini fridge in our room. [Note: if you have an infant in your party, as we did, they might 'comp' you a fridge. We were lucky enough to have the happen for us. As we checked in the CM said "Would you like a refrigerator?" and when we asked how much per day (knowing it was $10) he said "I'll give it to you at no cost because of the baby". :)

I would definitely stay at ASMovies again.

Pros:
Very reasonably priced
Cute theme
Clean
Nice food court with very good food
Landscaping and outside areas were gorgeous

Cons:
You can have a VERY long walk to the lobby (this was my #1 complaint)
Rooms are smaller (although, we had plenty of space)
Towels were shabby and worn

We had no problems with the busses and found that during busy times, they ran busses specific to the resort instead of an "All Star Resorts" bus.

I agree 100% about the moderate resorts. Two years ago we upgraded and stayed at Coronado Springs and I wasn't impressed at all. I paid way more and the room was pretty much the same. So, last month, we went back to the All Star resorts.
