All Star Busses?

How are the busses for All Star resorts? We have not stayed in an All Star in 10 years, because the bussing was so bad back then, we always stay Moderate now because the busses are better.

We are planning a short stay at WDW in October 2016 before we board the Disney Fantasy, so we are looking at not spending as much on the land part. When I price the Movies vs Coronado it is a $400 difference...that's it! Should I just spend the extra $400 or have the busses for All Stars gotten better?

I think the buses at the ALL STARS are great. Usually I stay at Sports and have found the buses there to be fast. There is only one pick up/drop off area compared to the moderates where there are several spread around the resorts.

Do the buses still go to each hotel or is there one bus per hotel now?

They sometimes share, but it's rare and only happens during the slow part of the day. We have had multiple stays at each All Star and only shared a total of 4 times. Each time there were only a handful of other people on the bus.

I stay at Music every year and rarely if ever did we have to share a bus. Usually in the middle of the day when the need is very low. I always joke with my wife that we had to wait forever for the bus if it takes longer than 5 minutes. It rarely does. You have to be lucky with your timing. If the bus leaves every 20 minutes and you arrive just as the bus departs, you'll be in line for 20 minutes. That goes for values as well as moderates.

Thanks, they must have changed it from the last time we stayed in an All Star, that bus was insane, we stopped at each All Star every time, it took forever and the buses were packed!

I wouldn't plan around the buses, they are what they are and you are going to have good and bad experiences with them at all the resorts. The value resorts bus stops aren't covered so you are exposed to the elements, on the the other hand, they do have actual lines. The moderate stops are covered, all but PORFQ have multiple stops but I found at POR it was just as easy to walk to the main stop for pick up and get off at my stop when I was dog tired. I've waited for buses at every single resort I've stayed at - GF, Poly, CR, BC, YC, BW, AKV, OKW, POR, POP, ASsp. I've also gotten on the bus as soon as I got to the stop. I've had standing room only at every place I've stayed and I've been the only one on the bus. It really is the luck of the draw. I would base the decision on cost and how much time you are going to spend at the resort and what you care about comfort wise.

I often hear people comment about the fact that the value resorts don't have covered bus stops and some see that this a disadvantage because you are out in the elements. IMO, you are out in the elements all day at the parks so why is this any different.

We are a family that prefers the covered bus stops. We just would prefer to sit down in the shade instead of standing in line with the sun beating down on us. We get enough of that in the parks so not having to do it at our resort is nice. Is it the only reason we prefer the moderates now, no. But it is nice.

You are rarely standing still in the sun at the parks and a lot of people seek shelter during the rain. The mods and deluxes have places to sit, so it helps. I'm not one who chooses a resort based on the buses but it is a consideration.

FWIW, at Art of Animation, all of the bus stops are covered EXCEPT Magic Kingdom. Which makes no sense to me, since it's the most popular park. But, anyway, all the other stops are covered. So not all Value resorts have the uncovered stops.
