Ok, so I got the card in the mail, here is what it says:
REWARDS, MATEY!
EARN 5X Disney Dream Reward Dollars on eligible purchase from 10/1/2009 through 12/31/2009
For every eligible dollar you spend above $250 each month, you'll accumulate Disney Dream Dollars at 5X the regular rate. 2,3 ( Since none of the small print mentions any specific categories I need to purchase, I believe that it is for everything I purchase will count.
Now, under 2 and 3 in small print, it says you DO NOT earn rewards toward balance transfers, cash advances, using their checks, money orders, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent purchases or fees of any kind.
It says my maximum bonus reward accumulation during this promotion is 200 bonus Disney Dream Reward Dollars, which equates to $5000 total over the specified hurdle.
It also says to be eligible for this offer, you had to have a credit card account opened before APRIL 1, 2009. (so that may be why some people did not get this.)
It says the bonus rewards will be reflected on your monthly credit card statement approx 6 to 8 weeks from the month in which the transaction posts to your credit card statement and /or from the time you have enrolled in the program.
So, this is how I am going to use it. I will buy all the things I normally use my debit card for this card. Once I know I hit the $250 mark, I will make a large purchase. Now this is going to be my big purchase for the month. I will buy a DISNEY GIFT CARD from the
disney store to cover our Dining Plan fees for our January visit. Since I am a DVC member, I can't purchase it before I arrive, and since it is in January, it wouldn't count, but if I buy the gift card, I get the bonus, and I will have more rewards to use on our trip.
I will also make sure to pay my DVC annual dues by December 31, 2009 and this way I will have another large purchase and credit. Not sure it will all clear by the time we go in Jan for 3 nights, but it will definately come in handy for our August trip.
I was even thinking of buying a multiday park pass through the mousesavers link and just put it in my safe deposit box, since everyone knows the prices of tickets will definately go up. I do this every once in a while anyway, so when we do decide to go for a quick visit, the only thing I need to worry about is airfare and food.
Last year I got this too, but it was only good if I spent over $2500 a month! YIKES, who does that?
