Ok I am going to step in here and say that anyone who wants to post the answers may do so....It is your CHOICE whether you look at them or not.

It is also not WRONG it is your decision and opinion that it is wrong not everyones. Please do not flame others for posting or helping.

If Yavn wishes to express his feelings he needs to come here and do so himself.

As of now all that we are asking is that IF you do post a spoiler or help thread to mark it as such or post in white out so others have the choice to look or not.

Please do not FLAME others for posting Helps and Hints AGAIN it is your CHOICE to look and use them or not.

Thanks

Mal and Lori

(I have edited this to add my name so everyone knows this is not just Mal's opinion, Lori)

This decision really disappoints me.

EDIT WITH ADDITIONAL COMMENT:

I wanted to take some time and give this some thought before I posted my full thoughts as to WHY this disappoints me.

Firstly, reading the spoilers is not a clear cut case of "CHOICE" with these quests as it was for, say, the Air Lock Game. There you could decide to figure out the puzzles on your own, or get the answers, plug them in, and claim your prize. This is more like the smoking issue, where if someone makes the "choice" to cheat, it hurts me. These quests are designed as a race. If I make the decision to try to figure out the clues legitimately, and somebody else has already read the answers on line and is simply clicking through rooms as fast as possible, they are going to beat me and earn a better prize. That's not fair.

Secondly, if the decision to post the answers stands, than it is apparent that the purpose of DIS is not to enhance VMK, but to undermine it, and that is not a community I wish to be part of.

Thanks.

Me as well simba... :sad2:

The producers of vmk work very hard to bring us a great virtual experience including some really interesting games and now quests. IMHO, not right to post the answers the same day a game opens.

I am not looking to debate this issue either, yavn has stated many times that is saddens him to see the "cheats" to the games the day they are released and I can completely understand his reasoning.

ok since you copied this from another post here i will say my 2 cents here..

i have had it.. you think your a vmk forums god or something because you have the power to edit peoples posts and close what threads you want well think of how Yavn and the other makers of VMK feel when we all post answers to the games that come out that day. think of how hard they work on the games and how many hours they put in to make this game for us. you say that if he (Yavn) doesnt like it than he can come here and say so. even if he did would you close all the threads of the answers? Didnt think so

You are a co mod of the VMK board you have someone else to ask if it is ok you both are a team. what does Lori have to say about posting the answers?
did you ask her?

ok i am done for now. take what ever action you want towards me i dont care. go ahead edit my post kick me off Dis do what ever makes you happy.

just as it says over there <-- i dont play well with others

Ok, I do have a question about one of the quests and it does not pertain to answers or is a spoiler of any sort.

In one of the quests, I can't remember which one, but i think it is the Nautilus quest, it states that you will need your diver suit. Do you really need a suit to complete this quest? What about the helmut? So what happens if you do not have the suit? I wonder how many will need to play the airlock game first now if this is true. Just wondering if anyone got far enough that they actually needed to have the suit on.

Hi

Ever here of freedom of speech and free choice to look or not look.

Excuse me!

For your information this is a decision that was made a long time ago not today.

And since we do not have a Team Log in ID then I was just the one to post today.

I do not think I am a forum god and have not edited or deleted your post.

I am sorry some of you do not agree with this decision that is fine. I can not see why you have a problem with it since all you have to do is NOT read those threads.

This subject has been debated before over and over and this decision was made by the Team a long time ago.

I also suggest that if you are anyone else wants to take this up with me or anyother moderator you should PM them not flame us on the boards.

Thank you

Mal

I think it is awful to personally attack Mal, who along with Lori, spends countless hours attempting to keep these boards in order, make sure that the DIS rules are followed (not theirs), and to choose to create fun games and contests for AWESOME prizes.

I believe it was very fair to ask people to post in white so that it will not spoil the games for others. And give me a break, the answers to any VMK game are readily available on the net.

And you don't have to read the post. I didn't. But if someone needs help, help is here.

I can't even imagine what Mal and Lori have to do to monitor these countless posts as it is, it was a very hateful thing to say to Mal.

Mal, I support your decision.

I have never understood why people find a subject thread they don't like but continue to read it. Stop reading the thread if it is something you don't like.

Thank you for posting this Mal.

First of all, let me say THANK YOU to you and Lori for all that you do around here. It is a thankless job that you don't get paid for and I, for one, appreciate the long hours that you dedicate to the boards.

Secondly, I don't see what the big deal is. If people want to post spoilers, that is their business. I didn't see anyone complain about quest answers being posted, or pictures showing step-by-step instructions for the other games. If you don't want to read it...DON'T.

I, for one, will be glad to get some help on these games. I am horrible at them, and I am someone who would like to give them a shot. I am not one of those players who just sits back and just "accepts gifts". I would like to think that more people would play the games if they were able to complete them.

I just think it is incredibly sad that people are choosing to personally attack others because their beliefs are different. I guess the DIS isn't full of the people that I thought it was :sad2:

I have to agree with Simba in the sentiment that the spoilers should NOT be allowed.

It's not as simple as "if you don't like it, don't read it". It gives other players an unfair advantage over those who choose to do the quests legitimately without the use of cheats. these players will complete the quest faster and get better prizes because of their use of these cheats. It does not just affect them, it affect EVERYONE who participates in the particular quest they cheated on.

There is a very simple solution to all of this to people that have a problem with posting answers..... DON'T READ THEM! :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

unfair advantage over people who dont read them? kind of like the unfair advantage you have over my 8 year old son when he tries to do them too huh? oh, bet you didnt think of that. Holier-than-thou stikes again. I really wish people would have at least a little consideration of others. Selfish, very selfish to want to keep these answers to yourself.

This is the best vmk board and our moderators work hard to keep it so.

If you do not want to see the spoilers don't read the thread. If you do not like the idea of the threads being posted here maybe you should go to another board.

There is NO reason to flame our hard working moderators.

What the complainers need to understand is that this is a child's game, and like any other game, there are going to be cheats. So what if you don't get the highest score? That shouldn't be what VMK is about. Just be happy that we have fun quests to do, don't grovel over the fact that other people have "an unfair advantage". It's a child's game, people. This isn't life, so I think that you'll all be fine, and attacking Mal isn't going to solve anything.

oh my i am wondering, lets say one cannot sign in until the weekend or later does that mean all the good prizes will be gone for the quests completed because everyone else all got to them first...either by reading the post or doing them all on your own...

First off. It IS a personal choice to make to read them or not. You want to talk about being unfair? What about all of us people who are stuck at work or school right now and can't work on these "race quests"? Or those that can only log in one or two days a week? It is an unfair advantage that there are people either sitting at home or sitting at work and working on these.
But I look at it this way: Life is not fair. We are not promised that everything will be fair. Yes. There are things I don't like and I have complained about the fairness. But I get over it.
This is an issue that has many sides. If you don't choose to look at the answers, then don't. If the items won are tradable, guess what? You can trade for the better items later. :)

And in answer to someone else saying that if Yavn came here asking not to post the answers, I would like to believe that the mods would respect those direct wishes and close those threads down. And really, whether they do that or not is ultimately their decision. But has he come here yet? No. So please don't go making assumptions about what mods will or will not do.

you know, someone already had a 9 minute time on the first quest, how is that possible unless they were given the answers ahead of time? of course they were given the answers. Thats life, favoritism and unfairness reign supreme, it happens in school, work, and Oh My Gosh! VMK too!

Personally I cant wait to see the cheats posted. I wont even attempt any quests until they are. While some seem to think that keeping the answers secret will keep it interseting I think it is a waste of time to make the quest without them.

While I wont read them until I get stuck, but when I do get stuck I want to know it is just trip to this board to keep me on track.

I cant believe some of the flames I have seen posted over this and that makes me wonder about the motivation behind them. I am sure it is not to protect Yavn and his staff from having the game taken apart. When they built it they knew that was going to happen.....What is the big deal about being able to have a reference?

This is the first thread I've read today, since I'm at work and couldn't get
into the DIS before work this morning.

I really have to be the first to admit I'd be a total hypocrite if I didn't have
"cheats" in VMK. I tried the Airlock Escape on my own, and I needed those
cheats to win the dive suit. I was thankful to have those available.

During the first Hidden Mickey Quest, I found them all on my own. But when
they had the second Hidden Mickey Quest, I found MOST of them on my
own, but there were some I really needed help finding. Without the help of
special friends in VMK with me, I doubt I could have found them on my own.

That being said, I have no idea what this new Tomorrowland thing is about,
but I'll attempt it on my own. And I'll probably need the cheats to get ahead
in this game, too. I'll fully admit that I intend to use them if I get stuck.

I'm really disappointed that people feel the need to attack the moderators
for what I know must be a difficult decision. But I want to leave my post
with one thing:

These "cheats" will be on other sites, so any "unfair advantage" will be
available to anyone who looks for them. So if it's on the DIS or not,
the end result will be the same.
