It would be my honor, Snoopy! (I hope that I do an all right job!)
1) Greenlee Smythe came to PV about a year and a half or 2 years ago. She had gone to film school or college with Scott Chandler (Stuart's son) and sort of followed him to PV 'cause she had a big crush on him. She is not related to any "old" characters, but her grandparents (whom we see sometimes), Millicent and Woodrow Greenlee are apparently old PV residents - and travel in the same social circles as the Enid Nelsons and Phoebe's. Her father, Roger, is a loser who tries to be charming but has lost much of the family fortune and stole from Greenlee's trust fund (and is now a suspect in the big drug ring storyline). Basically, she came on as a rich, spoiled snob. Since then, she has been involved with Scott, Ryan, Leo, and Jake. She came on as a "bad girl" - now they are showing more sides of her personality and I really like her! I hope that they don't make her totally "bland" like they did with Gillian, at the end.
2) Ruth and Joe are still on the show....well, Joe is anyway! They speak about Ruth a lot, but she always seems to be "in pediatrics" whenever they do a hospital scene, so we rarely see her! We see Joe at the hospital a lot, though. Yes, Jake is Joey Martin. He came back to the show (different actor) about 3 or 4 years ago, and now he likes to be called "Jake". He's the typical nice-guy-Martin. Since he's been on the show, he's been involved with Liza, another character who's no longer on the show, he married Gillian briefly, and now he's sort of involved with Greenlee.
3) Leo came on the show about a year and a half or 2 years ago. He came on as the spoiled rich son of Vanessa Cortlandt (Palmer's current wife). He was originally portrayed as an immature playboy type. As with Greenlee, they're now showing more sides of his personality, and we see that even though he doesn't have much direction, he's a good guy. He lived in Erica's house for awhile (Erica used to date David - the "creepy doctor" - who happens to be Leo's brother. She invited Leo to live with her to get back at David, 'cause he's not a big fan of Leo's), so he became good friends with Bianca. Leo was the first person whom Bianca told she is gay. So he sort of looks out for her. Leo married Brooke's daughter, Laura, 'cause he felt sorry for her and thought that she was going to die....but she lived....and he was trapped until recently in a loveless marriage......even though he always loved Greenlee and has now dumped Laura and proposed to her.
4) Yes, Erica is being accused of killing Bianca's.....well, I wouldn't exactly say "lover", 'cause we never saw them be intimate at all. I guess they were sort of girlfriends. Frankie - Bianca's "girlfriend" is Leo and David's cousin, and Vanessa's niece. Even though Erica thinks that Bianca killed Frankie and Bianca thinks that Erica killed Frankie, I suspect that maybe Vanessa killed Frankie!
5) David is sort of a mysterious guy - since he's been on the show, he's been involved with Erica, Dixie cheated on Tad with him, and now he's sort of involved with Anna Devane. He's supposedly the best cardiologist in the world, but has also been involved in the abuse of an experimental hormone-related drug ("LIBIDOZONE"!) and accidentally/purposely got the whole town on the drug, last year, which basically made for one big PV orgy (not kidding!)! It was all an attempt to get Tad to cheat on Dixie so that he could justify her cheating on Tad with him. Now, he's one of the suspects in a big drug ring storyline that's going on. So yes, I guess he IS kinda creepy, but for some reason, PV's women swoon over him!
6) As for Anna Devane, her twin sister (yes, that's right - she had a twin sister - also played by Finola Hughes!) is married to Dimitri Marick. It turned out, after all these years, that Anna was alive and Alex (the twin sister) and Dimitri brought her to PV to hide from whatever evil group was after her and blew up the boat on which she and Robert "died", years ago. While she was hiding out at Wildwind, she and Edmund sort of had a fling (Edmund also had more than a fling with Alex, during a period of time when he and she thought that Dimitri was dead), but she always thought that Edmund was sort of boring. She thinks that David is very exciting and I think that she's fallen in love with him while simultaneously trying to figure out whether he is "Proteus", the drug lord. Since she's been on the show, Robin (her daughter from GH - same actress, too) has come to visit her, and so has Mac Scorpio. Also, she has found out for certain (yeah, right) that Robert is, in fact dead, so it's "OK" for her to be sleeping with David!
