Does anyone have any suggestions on an all in one printer. I need to scan and print pictures and not spend an entire fortune on ink.

Thanks

I have a Lexmark wireless that we love. All of our laptops work with it and we can print from anywhere in the house. It was easy to scan and the pictures print out nice. Ink is 30-40 dollars but you have to buy both a balck and a color cartridge. I just started scrapbooking and printed a bunch to go to a crop and it was convenient but pricey. From now on I wil upload to Costco or the ritz camera that is on the corner and just print the occasional picture or if I want to print bigger pics. I returned my used cartridges to Staples and just got a check for 18.00 for 3 cartridges. My mom just bought a kodak printer, she says the ink is cheaper but I don't know exactly how much it is.

We bought an HP Deskjet F2430 (print, scan, copy) last Christmas at Wal-Mart for $25. It was a one time special offer. I think I've seen them or one's very similar for around $50-$60 normal price. It has worked out great for us and prints pictures very nicely. My husband just made his mom a photo calendar and printed it all out on it. Ink cartridges are about $13 each, black and color ink both I believe. I've only purchased black, still using same color that came in it originally. Had a Lexmark before it and was only printed and I was getting tired of paying $25 for black ink every 4-6 weeks.

I thought I wanted one of these also. I ended up going to Best Buy and looking around. I eventually spoke with a representative of one of the companies (Epson, Canon, someone) anyways, he asked me what I was planning on doing with it. I wanted to scan some of our photos and put them on disc to have put up in case something happened. He steered me toward a stand alone scanner because of the resolution it offered. He said the all-in-ones aren't as good. I ended up buying an epson, it's not top of the line but not the bottom either. He didn't steer me toward a brand but showed me what to look for. He also told me there were more at Office Depot or one of those places.

As for the printer, if you are using it to print pictures, find one that specifies that it is used for pictures. Read the reviews, but with an open mind. I have an older Epson stylus photo printer. If you read the reviews, you will see people complain about the speed that it takes to print pages (print, not pictures). It was meant to print pictures with clarity, not speed. Just something to keep in the back of your mind.

I often complain about my son's printer. His came with his computer when he bought it. It prints pages fine, smears photos. It was meant for paper. I also complain about how expensive the ink is. Someone here pointed out that you should be wary of cheap or free printers as they usually make up that cheap price with expensive ink.

Not sure if any of that helped but hope it gives you a few things to keep in your mind while looking.

Target here has the HP Officejet J 4580 All in one on clearance for $45. The ink was reasonably priced when I looked at the prices for it plus Target often has it on sale with a free giftcard. I have an HP all in one and it is great especially when you have to make copies. I had a Brother brand previously and that ate ink like it was nothing.

We just got the kodak one the refills are 9.99 for black & 14.99 for color.

I have and Hp and just bought the kodak. I mainly got it because the ink is so much cheaper! I was shopping for ink for the 3 other printers in the house and was able to get the kodak for less than replacement ink!! It prints great quality and I love the wireless!! :cool1:
