All ferries shut down (except between MK & TTC)?

So I'm assuming this means the ferry boats at Epcot, between MK and Fort Wilderness etc? Since the body has already been recovered, I'm curious as to WHY they've been shut down? What is the risk? The boats are too large for a gator to pose a threat to them, or is it due to the docking area?

The shutdown was while they were searching Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. The boats at Epcot, and between Epcot and DHS weren't affected to the best of my knowledge.

I just read that the smaller watercraft aren't running and I am guessing that is because the Marinas and the Beaches remain closed. However, I see the smaller water ferrys not running as an extreme overreaction.

To clarify...
Ferry boats only run form MK to TTC. They are the BIG boats.

Launch boats and Cruiser boats were not running on Seven Seas Lagoon or Bay Lake during the investigation. Other boats on other bodies of water at WDW were not affected. All beaches were and remained closed. Boat rentals for guest use were closed and re opened today.

The Seven Seas and Bay Lake launch boats and cruiser boats re opened yesterday. They stayed closed after the body was found Wednesday night because Orange County still had control over the lake and lagoon trying to find the gator. They did open the ferry boat path to allow for firework exit at around 9:45, worked out well because most of the watercraft crew was allowed to leave early that evening.
