Is it possible that all DVC rooms of every catagory at every resort are booked for an entire 6 night timeframe? Seems kind of impossible but maybe?

Simply yes especially over busy periods and how long before you go that you book. I checked for easter for a renter and there was nothing available except one night at SSR. I would keep checking as it changes all the time

Yes it's possible.

We are going early Dec. We have a studio for BLT 6 nights and 3 nights BCV. I was hoping for a few more days at BCVs. So I keeping checking if anything opens. (I do have wait lists.) About a week ago, I checked for any room anywhere for the weekend Dec 6 and 7. Nothing was open at all. I was floored. I also thought something somewhere would have had a room open.

Were you planning to go, if so when were you gone?

Oh I Have reservations when we are going I just thought the reservation system might be set to resist showing availability to those who have reservations already to prevent changes. Thought how busy it will be if its true that all dvc is booked. What if a room has a problem where will they place the people? That is why its hard to believe

If they are going to leave a few rooms open in case of problems -- which, I agree, I hope they do -- why *would* they show them as available? If they are set aside for emergency use, they are not available to be reserved by definition of 'being set aside for emergency use.'

And, yes, it certainly sounds as though it might be a bit crowded during that time. :rotfl:

:)

yep, there are several hundred thousand DVC members, IIRC, and only enough pts for every member to stay every night during the year (not counting the pts DVC holds back for maintenance issues.)

if someone trades their pts for a disney cruise, DVC takes those pts and tries to use them to book rooms to rent for cash to pay the cruise division - those rooms are available for cash bookings but generally cannot be pulled back into points inventory.

so over time, yes, DVC occupancy should be very close to 100% and book up earlier at relatively popular times of year. timeshares are not like hotels. you might catch a break at some times of the year due to cancellations (not to mention those rare DVC members who lose interest and don't care if their pts expire) but booking early is the best plan.

October through December/January marathon are very popular for DVC. Other times of the year it's easier to get rooms.

There have been cases where members had to switch hotels because of an emergency. So there are not always alot of "spares".

Hi guys,

What are the chances of being able to book a value one bedroom at Animal Kingdom Villas during the last two week ps of August at 7 months out?

Thanks in advance,
Sharon

Not great. The value category usually sells out well before the 7 month window opens.

The value category has only 8 dedicated studios and ten 2 Bedroom lock-off villas (a studio connected by an interior door to a 1 Bedroom). So there are a maximum of ten 1 bedroom villas available if no one books a value 2 bedroom villa. Due to the low point cost, the value category is very popular.

The closer you get to the end of August, the better the chances. Schools coming back into session tend to make availability better at all resorts at that time.

But as Carol said, SV is always tough for non-owners. As usual, we'd advise to book at the home resort at 11 months and switch to AKV SV if available at 7 months.

Do you have to pay the $95 fee twice then?

There is no fee to book a DVC resort.

There is a $95 fee if you are exchanging into or out of DVC via RCI or if you want to book one of the options in the Disney Collection (like a cruise on the DCL or a non-DVC WDW resort), the Adventurer's Collection or the Concierge Collection.
