My wife saw this yesterday on the News page of our son's school web site:

Holy Cross Students Make Disney History
Posted: Monday, November 28, 2016

Like many families during the Thanksgiving break, Anthony Mocklin and Cole Barrett headed to Walt Disney World for a much needed vacation. While there, the two Holy Cross students decided to try and attempt to make history by becoming the first people EVER to ride all 47 rides throughout Disney. Well, the two made a name for themselves and did what they set out to do. At 1:45am in the morning, Anthony and Cole accomplished what no one else had ever done and exited the famous It's a Small World having ridden every ride in Disney World. The guys made sure to document their journey through Snapchat and posted the video online. For their feat, Disney gave Anthony and Cole certificates, golden fast passes, and vouchers for gifts.

Congratulations guys!

See the video HERE

I did a little bit of searching for fact-checking, and found that 2 other guys had ridden all 46 rides 2 years ago, but nothing about 47 rides. And since Disney acknowledged it, I guess it's a new first!
Way to go, Tigers!

I knew about the two who did the 46 but in the last two years what ride has been added to make it 47?

Frozen
I don't believe Maelstrom was a part of the WDW46 challenge

This has really been one of the first times since Frozen opened that every ride has been operational. I was thinking of doing it in the fall, but too many things were down for refurb. They lucked into a good week to try this

I wonder how Disney confirmed that. Is it something maybe they send in afterward to be acknowledged?

It's kind of amazing what can happen at 2AM. With the park basically empty, CMs are much more liberal with what they are willing to do.

The kids were probably very excited while talking to an attraction CM, and maybe word got up a leader. Not sure where the certificates would have been from, but a couple recovery passes and no strings cards aren't hard to give out. While the post says that Disney gave them the 'prizes', it could have just been a random CM in a good mood.

This is probably exactly what happened. Disney PR didn't officially confirm it so they can't really say Disney did anything just CMs did. My fiance and I both got perfect scores on Buzz in September and since we were the first of the day we got "certificates", buttons, and our photo taken for the project show. The certificates were just the generic magical moment ones that the CMs filled out. I'm sure that is what GR did for these boys as well. Someone filled out a magical moment card, gave them some no strings cards for a small amount limit, and loaded their account with the FPs. It costs Disney next to nothing to do that.

Still cool what the guys did. I still wonder how they were able to get through all 47 so quickly especially since it doesn't appear like they had a vip tour guide anything to make the line wait shorter.

There are certain rules for the Parkeology challenge. My son and I came up one ride short of WDW46 in an 18 hour day on 4/10/2015... damn splash mountain broke down in the morning and at close. Twitter: SummersAtDisney. The rules include, but are not limited to: registering your attempt with them, declaring your fastpasses and tweeting a picture of you/your group on the ride in near real time. This effectively proves that it was you on the ride and common sense feasibility on the likelihood that you got from A to B in an amount of time that was not unreasonable.

Wow, perfect timing to do it. hours have been so short lately. refurbs. down rides.

Congrats to them.

I didn't know this was a "thing." It seems silly, really. I am absolutely positive that we did every ride in the place back the '70s when we went the first time. ...but then social media comes along and makes everything noteworthy...

To be fair, getting every ride in the 70's was a little easier than it is today.
