Ok, I know Alien Encounter is fake. I know its just an attraction with some very nice special effects. I'm an adult but the ride still freaks me out. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy it... but I confess there are times during the ride I have to remind myself "this isn't real... this isn't real... this isn't real" The hot alien breath on my neck... the warm thick blood that gets splashed on you (but which is magically gone at the end of the ride).. the pressing of those shoulder thingys that hold you in your seat...

Do any other adults out there get freaked by this ride? Come on now... be honest.

The ride freaks me out so much I think I closed my eyes because I don't remember the blood!!

Nah, its flying through the air... you feel it hit your face... completely gross. I nearly puked the first time.... eheheh

... this ride definitely freaks me out!
However, I still go on it cos' I love Skippy :)
I've actually only been on it twice I think... the 2nd time was whilst I was a CM - I went on with a big group of girls from Hong Kong, they all thought it was hilarious and one of them tapped me during it and scared the life out of me LOL
Ah well... will be taking DBF on it this year, wonder what he will make of it. I don't want him to miss out on Skippy in case next time we go it is a Stitch Encounter (which would be fabulous you have to admit...)

Absolutely!!!!!!!!

It is the only thing I refuse to go back on. I first went on in 1997 and have never dared to even set foot in the line for it again... I know, I know, it's only make bellieve, but was that just a bit too realistic lol

Give me ToT or RnR or any mountain anytime!!

not really.. The only part that is a little gross id the spittle!

But i am looking forward to it this weekend with a couple friends who have never been on it!

I've been on it twice. The second time I went because I thought "Well, maybe it's not as scary as I thought". But it is...I refuse to go on it anymore. I closed my eyes the whole time and couldn't wait for it to be over. I tell my DH that he can go on it and I'll meet him at the exit door. It's the only Disney ride I absolutely refuse to see again. Big baby, I know, but there it is..

I have gone on this ride... and have to say that when they strapped me down and shut the lights out, I was a goner....... I wanted out of there and was a lunatic... it caused such claustrophobia for me.. My youngest daughter, we still laugh over her, she said she became catatonic, stuck her fingers in her ears, closed her eyes, and hummed When you Wish upon a Star, she is 25.. LOLOLOLOL When we got outside, we were all freaking out, our worst things, strapped down, darkness and someone breathing down your neck.. EEEK... she did not remember any of it..

So a big yes from this family, this ride freaks us out..

I'm an adult. (Just making that clear from the start.)

I heard too much buildup on this attraction before I went on it, so I guess I was expecting it to be REALLY scary. I wasn't freaked out like many people get, but I thought the special effects were very good. It DID feel like the alien was right there.

I disagree with the blood, though. Blood is thick and warm, so when I felt runny cold drops of water, the effect didn't work for me. I remember thinking, oh that water was supposed to be the guy's blood. It temporarily brought me back to reality, which disappointed me. I thought they should warm up the water to be at least 90 degrees before squirting it at us.

I
hate
this
attraction

Went on it once...as soon as the restraints came down on me, I wanted out. I leaned far forward...so I wasn't straight against the back of the headrest, so I lost SOME of the effects...but I was still freaked out. I know it's "mind over matter"...but I still don't like things touching me in the dark (DFI excluded of course. ;) heheheh)

Every time DFI and I walk by AE I'm like "Please don't notice, Please don't notice, I don't want to do that ever again"

heheheh...Disney has so much more to offer...that I think I can deal with downright hating one or two rides. :)

 I tried it once & was definitely on edge throughout the whole attraction. I survived it but it's definitely NOT on my must-do list.
If someone REALLY wants me to try it with them again, I will. At least next time I will have some idea of what to expect!

I love this ride, though it does scare me a bit. The first time I rode it, my mom and dad were keeping our daughter, so DW and I decided to try it out. We knew nothing about the "ride." Anyway after being restrained, we expected the theater to move. Since it didn't, DW asked, "Why do you think they strapped us in?" My response, "Because I would have run through the door the first time the breath hit my neck if I hadn't been held down":p I love taking others on this ride. Last Christmas, I went on with my SIL. After she screamed through the entire thing, I asked her how it was once we were outside. Her response--it was different. I nearly died laughing at her trying to act as if she wasn't scared.

This attraction is lame with a capital "L". It didn't even frighten, startle, or otherwise bother my daughter who was all of 10 at the time. In fact she was giggling as she left and wanted to know what the big fuss was about? I waited until our kids were older to give this a whirl. We wasted over 1/2 an hour of valuable e-night time waiting AND it was so unimpressive. Glad that I've done it and don't need to waste any more time there! ;)

AE, like dinosaurs, is definately a love it/hate it sort of ride. I love them both. :) But then, they're the only two rides in the world capable of totally freaking me out. There's something so theraputic about letting yourself think that there's actually a killer alien chewing on the brain of someone near you. Or maybe it's just letting yourself scream until your hoarse after weeks of holding all negative emotions in. Anyway, love both rides. The only thing better than going on them alone is taking a newbie with a hyper-active imagination on them. :) Years ago I went on AE with my then li'l brother and afterwards he claimed he wasn't scared at all... he just sits curled up in a tiny ball with his eyes closed, fingers in his ears, loudly humming on every ride. Now he's almost as much a fan of that ride as me.

Yes this ride freaks me out too! I've been on it enough times that I don't feel the need to go on it everytime I go to the MK. I don't feel that it is entertaining and actually shouldn't be in the MK at all. The only reason I would go on it again would be if someone I was with was dying to try it for the first time or if I knew that they were going to close it down soon and it would be my last chance to ride it. The ickly stuff at the end gives me a disgusting feeling. I like rides that make me laugh and smile better.

I enjoy this attraction. It does not freak me out but my DD does not like it...says it gives her bad dreams!

Count me as one of the people who thought the experience was rather lame, and made worse by the absolute *shrieking* hysterics of many of the people in the theater. It was ear-splitting, and it made it hard to hear what was supposed to be going on. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more without that, but I had a hard time getting into the fantasy.

On the other hand, I enjoy the humor in the set-up, poking fun at the greedy corporation. As an additional bonus, going on AE made the "back story" on the Alien video game at Disney Quest make more sense.
