Alien Encounter Closed?

yes it is sad but true!!! one of the only thrill rides and they close it!!!12

I think it's sad they're basing a ride on a film that wasn't even that successful. Adding animated characters to such a ride seems to cheapen the effect.

It doesn't seem that too many people agree with me, but personally I'm glad they're shutting this one down. I hated this "ride". I would hardly call it "thrilling" as it didn't even move, and quite frankly the "alien" running around the room bored me (well at least it made me laugh a little). Then there's those shoulder harness things-why there even necessary is beyond me. Until I figured out that I could move them manually, the were pushing heavily into my shoulders, and considering that I have arthritis, it was very painful. The harnesses were so tight I found it hard to breathe. I know I'm not the only person who felt that way because when I mentioned how tight they were to my friend, a woman I didn't know said "yeah I'll say they are", and through out the ride I heard lots of groaning and "ow"s. I hope the replacement is nothing like the original. I found this attraction to be one of the most uncomfortable and annoying experiences I've ever had. Sorry, I don't mean to complain so much but hey, it's just my opinion :) .

Lilo and Stitch rules!!!!!!!!!!
The new ride will be called m"Stitch's Great Escape" and will feature stitch experiment 626, but not Lilo. It will be the same ride as the old one but it will be mellowed down and less fritening, more geared to the younger crowd! Stitch wil escape from scientist Jumba and will lick (slurp)your head!

They're not adding Lilo and Stitch to the Alien Encounter, they are developing and designing and entirely new attraction based around Stitch and the other "experiments" on his home planet.

And, as for L&S not being that successful, it made about $146 million in the US and another $127 million in overseas markets. Not to mention video and DVD sales. How much does a film have to make before you call it successful?

Scheduled to open in the fall of this year. Soft opening and test rides will probably start in mid-summer.

I have to say we are glad about the change. And we loved AE. Only we were afraid to let our kids 'ride' it... so I am glad they are making it a bit less scary.
