Alices Curious Labyrinth to close?

I have been following this discussion over at Disney Central Plaza. Maybe it will be a temporary closure for a full rehab, I hadn't realised just how badly in need of it the maze was, but when you study the photos from the early years there is a noticable differnece in standards, only whilst reading this thread did I find out that the little doors set into the hedges opened in the past. :sad2:
Heart of hearts I would like to see it refurbished rather than replaced, if for no other reason than it's uniqueness to DLP.
Also we didn't get to do it last time and I've promised my niece it's top of the list for our next visit. :goodvibes

It would be a shame if it were to go - it is a beautiful part of Fantasyland as as Jill said unique to DLP :confused3

yes i agree, it's shame, i hope they keep it, last june it was closed for 'refurb' so we didn't go in, but am looking forward to it in april, i wonder what exactly they did during the refurb, surely those photos must've been older than last june, the rust and the slimey stairs of the castle! goodness, i half don't want to see it, for fear of the disappoinment. I hope they did refurb it to a good standard, maybe someone who is going soon will be able to check it out for us.

I have just realised that the micechat thread was started in January, not long after the original thread at DCP. Having just read the latest over on DCP it seems we needn't worry. Whether as a result of the petition launched over there or because it was due for refurb anyway, it seems that some work has now been carried out, that the Cheshire cat now lights up and the throne outside has been replaced, I for one would like to see the cat's eyes turning again, so let's hope it's just the start of good things for Alice. :goodvibes

ooh good news then! Thanks for sharing Jill, i had a look at the DCP thread put my French is tres rusty and couldn't make out very much, only really looked at photos tho...
I can't wait to see it in April!

Thats correct this attraction is currently closed for a refurbishment. I think the threads on MiceChat and Disney Central Plaza may of contributed to the recent closure. Disney do not like it when pictures make it online that show poor maintenance and neglect. Of course I would like to coment that the park is currently in the best condition its been in years and credit most go out to Karl Holz and his mangement team for acheiving this. But its clear more work needs to be done, especially on Phantom Manor.
