Alice in Wonderland film

I didn't find the 3d that impressive and would of rather have seen it 2d, it doesn't have things jumping out of the screen, in fact DBF took off his glasses and couldn't tell the difference.

I think we will go and see it in 2d then, save the extra cash for popcorn lol.

We saw it in 3D and some things came right out at you .. the Cheshire Cat's head, the hedgehog and the Jabberwocky :scared1::scared1: Also if you took off the glasses the whole screen was blurred. It was similar 3D to Disney 3D shows in the parks. Also the scenery shots were very deep and immersive. Does it depend on what type of 3D equipment the cinema uses ... I don't know how it works to be honest. But the effects were amazing.

Yes you do get things now and again pop out, the trailers are Awesome in 3D! Haha when the Jabberwocky came out i jumped :lmao:

You must have viewed it in a cinema which doesn't have the full-blown 3D equipment, just the basic projectors. Your DBF would no way have been able to not tell any difference with the glasses off, like another poster said the full-3D screen present images which are very blurred when viewed with the naked eye.

I remember watching UP at an old Odeon with the low-quality 3D and it didn't even compare to when we watched it a different cinema with the latest 3D equipment.

parts of it was blurred and parts of it did look normal, I saw it at cineworld. I am not a fan of 3D anyway, I would of rather have seen it in 2D. I didn't think the 3D was amazing, it started to get on my nerves after a while.

JD was very good as usual however it did seem at times that he wasn't sure how to play the part, it is the first time I have watched JD in a film and he has reminded me of other characters he has played. :confused3

I think he was playing it to appear that way ... sort of both confused and confusing, and with multiple personalities. Thats the impression I got anyways. I did see a bit of Capt Jack popping up now and then though. I thought the crazy abrasive Scottish personality was so funny, especially when he suddenly switched into it.

Yeah I thought he could of been playing the part that way. It was just weird seeing his other characters though as I don't usually find that with his films. It was some weird mesh up of Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka and even a little Raoul Duke.

We saw it today in IMAX 3-D and absolutely loved it. For us it was like Disney's best attraction, but 2 incredible hours long. AMAZING!

Does Johnny Depp put a mixture of his other characters into the Mad Hatter and is it much better than the animated version

I saw it this afternoon in 3D and enjoyed it far more than I expected.

We saw it in 2D as DW often gets a headache while watching 3D movies. And as this movie was not filmed in 3D (the effects were added later in post production) you realy do not miss much.

When I origonaly found out that Mia Wasikowska was to play Alice, I thought she was far too old for the role, but Mia plays the part very well, and you soon forget how old Alice was in the origonal stories.

The plot of the movie is a mixture of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass.

Johnny Depp's portrayal of The Mad Hatter reminded me of his performance of Willy Wonka, and Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen is totally nutty.

I was very pleased that when The Jabberwock appeared it looked liked the one that John Tenniel illustrated for Caroll's origonal Alice books.

Danny Elfman's score is enjoyable and the movie looks fantastic and was great fun to watch. I even enjoyed Avril Lavigne's song Alice's Theme over the end titles.

I'm very glad that Odeon, Vue and Cineworld who had all planned to boycott the movie because of Walt Disney's planed reduction of the interval between cinema and DVD release from the usual 17 weeks to 12 did not happen and I was able to see this movie on the big screen.

I saw it with my 12 year old and 2 of his friends. We all liked it. We saw it in 2D, I think if you are going to see it in 3D make sure it is a good theatre.:3dglasses

I would not take my younger children. Some parts would be too much for them.:scared1::scared1: Every parent knows their kids best though.

I did see some Jack Sparrow sneak out as well. pirate:

pirate:I love Jack Sparrow savvy I am going to see Alice in Wonderland next weekend can't wait

Brilliant was it little nods and mannerisms that Johnny Depp did that made you say that's Jack Sparrow anyway good to hear you enjoyed itpirate::)

I think I was annoying people 'cause when the Knave came on I was like "IT'S GEORGE MCFLY!" and when the Chesire Cat came on I was like "STEPHEN FRYYY!"
haha xD

We just got back from watching at the Odeon and the 3d effects there were great. Didn't so much 'pop' out at you, but made the images sharper and crisp.

Enjoyed the film, wouldn't go over the top about it. But I'm glad I went to watch. I enjoyed JD as the Mad Hatter, even if it was a little hard to understand what he was saying at times - or maybe that's just me :rotfl2:

I think I'd watch again in 2d when it's out on DVD, just to see if there's any difference.

We saw it last weekend and absolutely loved it:thumbsup2

My missus and I went and watched this yesterday, and I thought it was absolutely awful.
A CGI-laden, badly plotted bore of a movie. Easily one of the worst things I have ever paid to watch at the cinema.
I absolutely love the original Disney cartoon and some of Tim Burtons stuff, plus Johnny Depp is one of my favourite actors. However, this was just a waste of all the talented peoples time involved in its creation.
I am all for progressing characters in a sequel, but when you see characters like the mad hatter having an intense sword fight in a massive lord of the rings-type epic battle, it is so inconsistent with the original written works and character that it just defies belief. :confused3
I tried to like it after hearing some heavy criticism laid against it, but it is just a pointless, dull exercise and I hope that I never have to watch it again.
Such a wasted opportunity.
