Whoopee…….we’ve made it. Yes, third time lucky. The first time, the ship had to take an alternative course due to 2 hurricanes and 1 tropical storm in the Atlantic. The second time, we had been diverted again due to bad weather, but an inconsiderate passenger took and overdose and the ship had to turn around and head towards land so that a helicopter could pick her up.
Anyway, our tour today started at 8.45am, so the alarm was set for 7.30am. The usual breakfast and then collect bags and meet the rest of the 200+ guests all taking the same tour. “Under 2 Flags” is the title of the tour and it comprised of a coach journey round the island of St Martin/St Marteen with a tour guide who explained all about the history of the island which is half French and half Dutch. The first stop was Marigot on the French side where we found a small open air market overlooked by Fort Louis.
The guide dropped us off as we reached the end of the tour at the main shopping street in Philipsburg on the Dutch side. We spent a couple of hours wandering round the shops and then walked back to the ship. But it was really hot. We wished they had taken the water taxi back instead.
A quick dip in the pool was in order and then some lunch, whilst watching Lilo and Stitch on the Jumbotron. Amazingly I said that she needed to take a nap, so we returned to the cabin for an hours sleep.
Pirate night tonight, so we get dressed up and make our way to dinner in Parrot Cay dining room. Lots of photos taken tonight as everyone is dressed as pirates. The theatre has been changed into a cinema (movie house) tonight as Toy Story 3D is being shown. We enjoyed the movie and then made our way up to deck 9 for the “Pirates in the Caribbean” deck party via the cabin. After collecting glow sticks we spend the rest of the evening joining in all the fun with friends and finally watching the fireworks which were set off over the ship.
