As I received so much information on Alfredo’s from my fellow Disers’ I decided to return the favor and write a review on our experience during our Mother’s Day lunch.

The cast member’s for this adventure were my DM (mother), DS (son age 12 – which will be important later), and myself.

We arrived at the restaurant by taking the boat to Morocco and walking over to Italy. It would have been much faster to take the other boat to Germany but I didn’t notice the other boat launch until after we were on board. Oh well it was a nice walk and we got to see the pavilions for several countries that I had never taken the time to do before.

Okay on to the restaurant review….

L'Originale Alfredo di Roma is located towards the rear of the Italian pavilion. The walk back was gorgeous as the Flower & Garden Show was in its’ full glory. I did not the outside seating and made sure to request an inside table as it was over 90 degrees on this special Sunday and coming from 55 degrees the day before at home this was melting hot and the last thing that goes together is heavy Italian food and heat in my opinion :rolleyes1

I checked in at the podium and the very nice Italian CM said my first name correctly (which is surprising) and in a wonderful way. The lobby area was extremely busy and the seating was very limited so the wait seemed longer than it actually was. The art was lovely but more seating and less clutter would make this easier on tired legs.

We were lead to the table and even though it was noted on our ressies that we were all adults, well per Disney standards anyway, she offered a child’s menu and crayons to my son which was appreciated. We ordered drinks (which was very flat soda :crazy2: ) and then our meal. My DS ordered the pizza (not available on the child’s menu), I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo, and my DM ordered the Chicken Parm, which is not listed on allearsnet.com menu by the way.

Our drinks and rolls which are provided to all diners arrived along with a bowl of oil. This was very good though the rolls were very tough so the oil helped considerably. Very quickly our meal arrived and we ((tried)) to enjoy it.

My DS said his pizza was good he even ate the prosciutto which I was concerned about. However my DM and I tried the pizza and it was normal Disney pizza why oh why can’t Disney make a decent pizza??? Okay sorry rant over but sheesh

My alfredo arrived and all I can say is yuck! It reminded me of the alfredo that you might find on a buffet that has been sitting out all day. I ate a couple bites and set it aside as it was horrible. My DM also tried it and was thankful that she hadn’t ordered it also.

My DM chicken parm though saved the lunch. The chicken was very tender and plenty to share. It was coated though with a brown sauce which I thought was very unusual. This came with ziti pasta and red sauce which would have been good had it not been luke warm.

Overall this was the worst and most expensive meal of our entire trip. The did not take the DDE card as it was Mother’s Day which was surprising as the other places we ate at that day did :confused3

My DM and I later determined that although the meal was probably our worst ever on Disney property (other than the one when the server at WCC dropped the salad on DM on her birthday last July) we were glad to have tried it as we like to try new restaurants. After this experience however we will likely be sticking to our favorites. We will be going back to WDW in July and I have some ADR's to change ;)

I am sorry to hear about your bad experience. We too, will never be going back to alfredo's. The food is subpar and the service is rushed. I felt like we were cattle moving in for slaughter.

Wow! That's too bad. I ate there for dinner about 4 years ago and just loved it! Everything we ordered was incredible and my DD basically licked her plate clean. I had the Fett Alfredo also. It must have been a bad day, hopeful thinking!

They were extremely busy as it was Mother's Day so I don't know if this was part of the problem or not. We will not be returning

We have eaten at Alfredo's once and will not be returning either. The tables are way too close together .. the food bad .. and the serice worse!

I think you are right on with this review. I absolutely HATE Alfredo's. And, I've said this before in other posts, but if you don't order alcohol the servers are very snooty. When me and DH went the server kept trying to push wine on us (I just don't really like to drink), we declined and never saw our server again. We were rushed and service was not friendly. Pair that with the sub par food and you have an experience that I don't wish to repeat.

At least you took it in stride, I hope you had a happy mother's day :)

Best Mother's Day ever :goodvibes

After all I was in WDW with my two favorite people

It just doesn't get any better than that even if lunch was lousy ;)

Thx for the review. After a couple of bad experiences at Alfredo's, I"ve learned never to go back. I see nothing has changed. :)

We had lunch there on Monday. As usual the fettucine and the lasagne were outstanding. The service was great, and the place was about 1/2-2/3 filled.
'Fredo's is our all time favorite restaurant. :earsboy:

I got the alfredo and agree it was not good. Had the lame , got to say it was great.

I've never been overly excited about any of the restaurants in World Showcase, I've found the food to be so-so with high price tags.

I come from an Italian-French background. Do lots of cooking. Visited both Italy and France where the food is devine.

I've always wanted to try Alfredo's but have been scared away, mostly because of the reviews on these boards. Lately I've been reading a few reviews that seem to be favorable. Today I read one that verified so many of the past post the the food is so-so.

None of the restaurants in WS have impressed me, most after eating there once I've crossed them off my list, some I've added a never-to-return-too. I find this sad, WS is about visiting other countries, learning about their culture, their food and what their daily life is like. I guess I'll visit the countries, shop in their little shops, learn about their culture, and what their daily life is like, and continue to avoid most of their restaurants.

Thanks for the honest review, sorry to hear your Mother Day experience at Alfredo's was not what you expected.

We used to go there every other year when i was younger.. the food used to be excellent and there was an extensive menu. However, they made some changes and the last time we went there (which was about 2 years ago) the food was horrible, I had the fettucine alfredo, which i'm always a big fan of, but it was absoutely disgusting, it took alot of convincing to get just a bowl of spaghetti with plain tomato sauce for my younger brother. All-in-all, it's truly a let-down, and we will never return.

Been there..done that..NOT going back.

When we went a few years ago, I had the fettuccini alfredo and I swear, it had been sitting under the warming lights for hours. It was a blob in my bowl.
Everything we ordered was mediocre. For that price, I want more than mediocre. The service left a lot to be desired as well.

This is exactly what I thought about the alfredo. The taste of the sauce seemed fine it was the fact that it was a congealed lump in a bowl that caused my stomach to turn.

I only ate a couple bites of it and you know our server never even questioned this? In most restaurants if they notice this they will say something. Oh well live and learn. Still glad we tried it as we know it will be a "must skip" for future trips :lmao:
