Has anyone eaten breakfast at Ale & Compass recently? I’m assuming that they don’t offer the buffet but do they offer any alternatives or is it entree only? What’s it like? Never been so looking for suggestions.

Not super recently, but I did eat breakfast there in November of 2020. There is not a buffet just a regular menu. The breakfast was good, I had an omelet. Coffee was good too. If I was staying in the Boardwalk area I would eat there again but wouldn't make a special trip for it. I enjoyed my breakfast at Trattoria al Forno better, I do make a special trip there.

Ate there last week. Quiet and great service. It’s all a la carte. Had very yummy apple cinnamon French toast— there were several interesting options that I debated over, plus standard breakfast fare. For me, it’s a very nice (calm!) alternative to Kona Cafe.

I have always liked this restaurant. In the past it has not been difficult to get a dining reservation but I tried to get one for our August trip for dinner and no luck! Darn it anyway!

I love the atmosphere, big tables, spread out, dim lighting; it's not an overwhelming sensory environment. (and we love the menu!)

We have a reservation there too! Any recommendations at Trattoria al Forno?

We love Kona but couldn’t get in there. Calm and quiet was our goal! Looking forward to trying something new

Their coffee blend in the press pot is my favorite anywhere on property, even better than Kona. So if you like coffee get that. As for food my husband likes the steak and eggs, and I have tasted it and it is always good. I got their tiramisu French toast this time and I liked it, it was different but good. I used to get the Italian omelet but that is off the menu now. But definitely get the breakfast potatoes, they are a chunky homefried style and very good. I even got them as an added side to my French toast, I figured if I was going to carb load on French toast I might as well go all out!

Are reservations needed for breakfast or can you just pop in on a whim (maybe with a minimal wait)? Staying at YC and my wife is hit or miss if she is in the mood for breakfast or not.

ADRs are recommended, however, in the morning, you can check to MDE app to see if they are utilizing a "walk-up" list and you can also mobile order from A&C. We stayed at YC, mid-June and I did mobile order from A&C a few times for both breakfast and dinner - it was great because we could do it spur of the moment and, if you order early enough, there are typically many pick-up times to choose from. We ate our meals in our room, however, at breakfast time, people were utilizing the lounge chairs and tables next to the restaurant to eat their breakfasts. One morning, while I was waiting to pick up my mobile order, I saw a family being turned away as a walk-up - it reinforced, in my mind, that mobile order is the way to go if you want some flexibility and don't mind eating your meal somewhere other than the actual restaurant.

We ate breakfast there at the end of March, 2021. Good food and atmosphere, but our waitress was having a bad morning and it showed. We'll go back again.
