Ale and compass vs cape May cafe

Tell me your thoughts on these two restaurants for a 5:00 dinner adr. Which is better food? Which is faster? Which would be closer to a bus stop to get to Magic Kingdom?

1.) Food Quality - Ale & Compass has one of the 'better' menus at Disney, particularly for a non-Signature. Cape May is a buffet. [Advantage to Ale & Compass]

2.) Faster Service - Cape May is a buffet - you can be done is 5-minutes if you want to eat-and-run. [Advantage to Cape May]

3.) I'm not sure the last time I left to the Parks from Yacht & Beach Club, so maybe I'm wrong in my memory, but the difference getting to the bus stop should not be a factor. Maybe, MAYBE, Ale & Compass is closer by less than one minute. [No Advantage].

You can probably finish Ale & Compass in an hour from the time you are seated without much problem. We didn't like Cape May--thought the food was about the same quality as a Golden Corral or similar buffet. It's one of the few Disney restaurants we refuse to return to. I'd say they are both about equally close to a bus stop--Ale & Compass is close to the entrance of Yacht Club and there's a bus stop right out front of Yacht Club, and at Cape May you would go to the Beach Club bus stop.

Do you think ale and compass could be done in an hour?

Probably. Let the waiter know you are in a hurry. Look up the menu before you arrive and place your order when the waiter arrives for the first time.

Our last lunch there was very quick and we had drinks it was just after 11 am when we sat down and the place was empty.

But, if you really have only an hour and will be stressed if the kitchen is slow it may not be worth it.

I’d also vote for A&C over Cape May. I think A&C has one of the better burgers on property. In my experience service hasn’t been lightning fast, but at 5 pm and if you express to the server that you’re on a timetable, I’m sure they’ll accommodate. Bus stop right outside Yacht Club lobby. Slightly closer than the stop on the other side by Cape May but not by much.

I’m leaning toward a&c. The goal is to be at magic kingdom by 7 for After hours. I think it can be done! I think as a family we’d prefer the food there over the buffet.

If you really want to be at MK by 7 consider using Uber or Minnie Vans. Either will get you to MK much quicker than the bus.

If you use uber, ask them to take you to CR and walk to MK. Otherwise, they'll drop you off at the TTC. If you use a Minnie Van, it will drop you off in the MK bus area which is much closer.

Actually, Cape May is one of our must do restaurants. We have always had excellent food as well as service there, and it's nothing at all like a Golden Corral. If you are fast eaters it would be easy to finish in an hour. We are slower paced and enjoy relaxing with our meals, so are usually longer.

Very easy to catch BC bus to MK after you finish your meal.

Ale and Compass is getting some mixed reviews at the moment so I’d go for Cape May however it is quite an expensive restaurant for the quality of food that you are getting.

All depends on who is partaking of it!! We totally think it is worth it, and the quality is there - as much as any Disney restaurant meal is 'worth' it! But, to each their own - 'worth' is so subjective.

Would also say that you should expect a strong seafood smell if eating at Cape May. Might not be an issue but was for one of the individual's in our party.
