ALDI's double guarantee?

Thanks to this board, I visited my local Aldi's last week for the third time ever. This time I remembered my quarter and brought my own bags (did one or the other last 2 times). I feel like a real Aldi's shopper.

Now I don't want to look like a dork, but I need to take advantage of the double guarantee. I bought the Clancey's frozen pretzels and found them truly awful. The guarantee says they will replace the product and refund my money. But replace it with what? They only carry one brand. Furthermore, I didn't save my receipt. Do I just take the package to the store, or do I request it by mail?

I used to work at Aldis up until about this time last year. In the two years I worked there I saw it handled differently at different stores. I have never seen an "official" procedure for it but I do know that in our region receipts were an absolute. Was not always that way but due to problems they had to go to that. In our store - with receipt- they would have refunded your purchase price plus tax and then you could have the option of trying that product again (the idea is that maybe you just got one that was not up to snuff....)- but if the customer said they did not want to try to again we would gladly let them have another same price item for free.

I think it will depend on the manager you get- and how their district manager wants them to handle it- but if it was me then I would go in- even without receipt- and tell them you are a new shopper and tried the pretzels and thought they were just not good. Tell them you threw your receipt away (if you have the pretzel package- definantly take it) but wanted to use the guarantee and instead of getting the pretzels to try again- could you get another same price item? If you lay it all out I think they are usually so busy they will just be happy that you are reasonable and go with your plan!
