Aldi now taking credit cards!

All Aldi stores are now accepting credit cards! So excited to save money and earn airline miles using my credit card!

According to our local news, an Aldi spokesman said there would be no price changes to reflect the acceptance of credit cards but time will tell!

Hopefully. The girl at the register today was new and seemed really overwhelmed, so maybe she wasn't in the know. Also our store is older and in a more urban area so maybe that is why they don't have the system changed over yet.

Well, that is good news, as I usually pay cash there now. They won't take AmEx though, which is my high rewards grocery card. Chase Freedom will be 5% on groceries April-June at least.

I would make sure that they aren't charging a surcharge for the processing - Aldi in Australia does, but they don't go out of their way to tell you about it!

I think I heard that when McDonalds began accepting credit cards there was a 30% increase in sales. I'll certainly be more likely to shop at Aldi's now, I'm one who carries very little cash.

I used a credit card there last week. Just checked online and no surcharges were added.

Our store started 2 weeks ago and the amount of shoppers has dramatically increased so I think that will offset the credit card fees. Studies have proven that people spend a lot more money with credit than with cash ( I know I do!) so I don't think it will be an issue.

Our Aldi's just opened in October. I go almost every week so I will have to start checking if they take credit cards. I REFUSE to use a debit card and I don't carry much cash, so I always have to make a special trip to the ATM before going to Aldi's and then stress out that I am going to spend more than I took out in cash. I really like Aldi's otherwise, but I will be thrilled if mine starts taking cards. I will probably be more inclined to buy some of the special buys in the middle of the store, right now I mainly stick to food so I don't go over my cash.

Ours starting taking credit cards, last summer, and they have not charged any surcharges.
