Alcoholic beverages on decks

um, we often make a drink in our room and take it to the pool deck. I never knew it was frowned upon and can't figure out how it hurts anyone.

:confused3
Don't know that anyone said it "hurts" anyone. Just pointed out that DCL policy says that alcohol brought onboard is not to be consumed in the public areas. Their house, their rules.

But, as I said, there are some who do it anyway. Your call.

After paying almost $15 for a rum and Coke in the Tube bar, we bought a bottle of Bacardi at our stop in San Juan for $36. The rest of the cruise, DH got a cup of Coke from the drink station, came back to our room, topped it off with the rum and sat out on the veranda . . .

Pretty much what I did on our last cruise, except I brought a pint of rum onboard in my carryon (and it was more than enough). I'd use a cup at the drink station to fill my insulated travel mug, add ice, return to the room, add rum, and enjoy the results on my veranda along with a good book. Repeated the process as required....

Who would know? Now if you showed up with a bottle of rum in your bag and pulled it out to pour yourself another glass on deck, to me, that is a bit much and could eventually be cause for Disney to rethink its policy.

Which is what they did when they attempted to limit alcohol being brought onboard a few years ago. That's when the cooler restriction (always on the list) started being enforced. Due to problems with people bringing their cooler/beverages poolside and to Castaway Cay and becoming too rowdy, from what I've read.

Disney actually allows alcohol to be brought on board when you embark? In your carryon or checked bags/:drinking1

DCL does let you bring unlimited quantities of booze, wine, soda and other beverages onboard with you. Per their policy it MUST be brought on in your carry ons...NOT checked luggage.

Be aware that you will be carrying carry on bags with you until your room opens up at about 1:30 or so. It helps to bring your beverages in a rolling carry on bag or rolling duffle. Makes it much easier to manage.

Bottles of Beer are in aluminum bottles but if you buy a refillable mug it is glass and can be filled at any bar that has beer on tap.

Oh after reading this thread I just can't wait for my first cruise. Cocktails by the pool or a nice glass (plastic cup!!) of wine in the evening on deck. ekkk!!!

If you bring wine aboard, you can get wine glasses from any bar.

We tell our room stewards we like to enjoy wine in our room and they swap out our dirty glasses for clean ones each day.

But can I bring the wine glass up on deck.

Yes, though as previously mentioned you are suppose to consume personal beverages in your room. I'll admit that we've taken a glass of wine into the MDR a few times, but invariably we'll buy a bottle to enjoy with dinner since one glass of wine will not last me 1 1/2 hours.

agreed. we keep our bottles in the room and if we're too lazy to head back for a refill, we just buy one on deck. . . i did learn to ask for prices first though - one evening at the adult pool we spent $60 on just two glasses of champagne (more than what the entire bottle would have cost retail)

Yes, the policy about beverages being brought on board has changed. However, to the OP's original question you are still fine buying your beverage on board and consuming it on deck.
