Can alcoholic beverages purchased on the ship be consumed while sitting on deck chairs?

While sitting in the deck chairs, standing by the rail, in other bars or lounges, walking about the ship, at the shows, in the staterooms, on the verandas, at the shipboard parties, and just about anywhere you want. Probably can't take alcohol in the kids' clubs - but that's just a guess on my part.

You can go to the bars to get your own, or wait for a CM to come around and take your order. DW likes to sit by the pool and usually places her order with the CM, while I tend to go to the bar (I almost always get a Mai Tai but I like to look at the menu on the off chance I might decide on something else...someday).

I will add this one reminder, that any beverages purchased at the on-board Duty-Free shop will be held by the crew until the end of your cruise, at which point it will be delivered to you. If you buy duty free in any of the ports you are free to bring it on board and you may consume it in your stateroom, just as if you had brought it on board at your embarkation point.

If I brought a case of Corona on board lets say. What would stop me from walking around the ship with it? I'm assuming they sell Corona on the ship.

Thanks

Just whether you wish to abide by DCL's request that any alcoholic beverages brought onboard NOT be consumed in the public areas.

Q:May Guests bring alcohol onboard?
A:While adult Guests ages 21 and older may bring alcohol onboard, the following guidelines apply:

  • Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area.

Do people do it anyway? Yes. Whether you are one of them is up to you and your conscience.

Yes. If they will be consumed on the open decks they should be in plastic cups though.

How is beer served on the ship if you buy it at the bar?

I know NCL sold cold buckets of beer at buy 5 get 1 free. They gave it to you in the bottles in a bucket. :) I'd normally buy 2 buckets and bring them to my room and put them in the fridge and drink them as I pleased. 2 buckets would normally last me a couple of days.

Well, they let you bring it to the desk at kids club but not behind the gates when you need to get your child. I mean....so I hear....:rolleyes1

LOL! I've only visited the kids' clubs on embarkation day so wouldn't know one way or the other, but I assumed Mickey doesn't want our younger passengers tempted by the presence of adult beverages. Besides, most of them don't need the stimulants!

If you buy a corona at the bar the pour it in a cup for you, they do not give you the bottle. Pour it in a cup in your room.

So it's definitely different than other cruise lines. All that I've been on just give you the bottle.

Thanks

I think DCL does aluminum bottles maybe. ??? I'm not sure. I know they don't want glass on Castaway. We were served our buckets of Corona on-island in plastic bottle-shaped cup things.

At a waterpark this summer my friends and I bought a bucket of Coronas. Imagine our dismay when they arrived in cans. Yes, canned Corona. Corona in a glass bottle tastes okay. Not great but it'll do. In cans? Ugh! Gotta force that mess down. It's not good.

If you bring on your Coronas just pour 'em into a cup. I know running back to the room from the pool deck every time isn't ideal but maybe use it as a potty break & grab some munchies on your way back to your chair. Take turns with someone doing refill runs.

Here's a pic of the plastic Corona cup/bottle we received our buckets of on Castaway:

Maybe try to purchase yourself some!

Bud, Bud Light and other Busch products are served in alluminum bottles.

You can also order 6 packs ahead of time and they'll have a few in an ice bucket on the desk for you upon embarkation

DCL will do exactly that: 6 bottles for the price of 5, plus they'll give you a bucket and ice to put them in. They don't advertise this, but any bar that serves beer in a bottle will do it if you ask. Sometimes we'll do that late at night - go to the nightclub (open until 2am) and get a bucket of beer and take it up to the deserted top deck, pull up some lounge chairs, and just enjoy the night at sea.

Thanks everyone... I was wondering if I'm walking around with a bottle Corona if anything would be said...

I think I have my answer.

After paying almost $15 for a rum and Coke in the Tube bar, we bought a bottle of Bacardi at our stop in San Juan for $36. The rest of the cruise, DH got a cup of Coke from the drink station, came back to our room, topped it off with the rum and sat out on the veranda . . .

um, we often make a drink in our room and take it to the pool deck. I never knew it was frowned upon and can't figure out how it hurts anyone.

:confused3
