Alcohol!!!

Hope this is not a dumb question (probably is) but...

I know you can bring your own bottles of alcohol on board but my question is do they have to be unopened? Can you bring a bottle of rum that you've "dipped" into already (can you say...."hoping starting my 4/15 vacation early"??)

I know you can't bring open packages of snack foods but wasn't sure about bottles.

I want to think when we where planing our cruise we found out that only unopened bottles where allowed to be carried on and they have to be carried they don't want you to pack in you bags.
