Alcohol purchase at the ports

My last cruise was in 2015 and I see the alcohol policy has changed. I am aware of what I am allowed to bring onboard from home, but my question is if I'm still allowed to buy alcohol (specifically Baileys, Khalua) at the ports and bring it onboard like I've done before. My dad got me thinking as he said he just got back from a cruise (not Disney) bought Baileys at one of his ports and when he boarded they wrapped it up and told him he would get it in his stateroom the night before. If anyone has any information on this I would appreciate it. Thanks.

You cannot bring it on board for consumption. DCL rules allow you to bring up to two 750ml bottles of wine OR six 12 ounce cans of beer per 21+ year old person at each port. Any amount beyond that or any liquor will be taken when you board and stored until your debarkation morning.

EDIT: Important, Disney does not bring it to your room on your debarkation morning. They will have a table set up where you can claim it. If you forget and walk off the ship you can't get it back. It has happened to some people on the forum.

You may purchase whatever you'd like in ports. Any hard liquor will be taken and held until the last morning for you. There is a pickup table located close to the door as you depart the ship.

You may bring up to 2 bottles of wine/champagne (750ml) OR 6 beers (12oz) onboard on embarkation as well as from ports of call, that you may bring to your room for consumption on the cruise.

I know. It's a horrible policy because not everyone drinks wine or beer. I use other options for our family though.

... but keep in mind the duty-free limits for what you plan to bring back to the US at the end of the cruise. You can bring back as much as you want, but are subject to duty for amounts exceeding the exemption amounts.

For those that drink hard liquor, I've heard that there are bars on board the DCL ships that serve it, so it's not as if those people are left out.

DCL actually still has one of the more liberal alcohol policies among the cruise lines.
If you have a will. You have a way. I have both so it doesn't really affect me.

Liberal for those that like beer and wine only. You can only have so much Smirnoff ice. I don't mind a beer here or there. Just not a fan.

The whole reason to bring your own is at a savings factor. So, yes we are left out.

Important to note: if you want to check your bags all the way through to your airline upon disembarkation, you cannot have any alcohol waiting to be picked up, because they pick up your bags the night before and you can't get through TSA with any liquids. Several people on our recent cruise ran into that, and were NOT happy.

Yes, if you have alcohol, you will have to have at least one bag that you carry off DCL yourself, and then check it at the airport. The rest of your bags can still use the direct check process.
