Alcohol in the Magic Kingdom

People do realize that kids also go to AK, DHS and Epcot, correct? This idea that adding alcohol to the MK will somehow ruin it is absurd to me. The next time I overhear a parent saying they won't take their kids back to any of the other three parks because of alcohol will be the first.

Seeing how alcohol is perfectly legal I see no problem with it at all

I'll never understand why, when not abused, it is considered bad

Because it all tastes like sock sweat (and smells as bad)? LOL :P

I always find this argument funny. Walt didn't want alcohol in DL until sponsors wanted it and then he decided sponsorship money was more important than keeping alcohol out of DL. There are a lot of Walt's philosophies that are no longer being observed so I always wonder why this one is such a sticking point.

I find the objection completely bizarre.

I would be much more likely to actually eat in the Magic Kingdom- right now we rarely eat dinner in the Magic Kingdom because both DW and I like to have a glass of wine or a beer with our meals.

Says someone who has obviously never had a passion fruit margarita from La Cava

No...no I haven't. But it's because it's passion fruit flavored sock sweat (I think passion fruit is gross too).

I've been told I'm weird.

I wouldn't like it at all. Wait had very strong feelings that DL be alcohol free (club 33 notwithstanding). That policy was carried over to MK when it opened. I see no reason to expand alcohol sales further than BOG.

Except for $$$. That's the reason to expand alcohol sales. And let's face it, Disney is a company who's goal is to make as much money as possible. So I would expect to see alcohol sales expand in MK at some point. BOG is just a pilot to see how it goes IMO.

I understand all the concerns and questions about this. However, they see alcohol in every other park with little to no issue. Disney is not maximizing profits from MK guests and that will eventually be a place they look to continue growth. Sure, some will threaten to no longer go to MK and some will even follow through. But I promise you that is part of the decision making process on alcohol sales in any park. I bet the number of folks they lose is far outweighed by the revenue alcohol sales generate.

I like a glass of wine with dinner and I believe others do as well. I would support not having open kiosked hawking booze along Main Street, but in a restaurant under the watchful eyes of servers? No problem for me.
.

Under the watchful eye of the person who makes more money when my bill goes higher. And who's every glass of alcohol they serve me nets them $1-$2 in gratuity? This sounds like a conflict of interest to me.

The only way to enforce a maximum on drinks is to put into the POS the # of adults in the party and not allow any more than 2 drinks per. Even then what's to stop me from giving my drinks to DW? There's always loopholes.

I cocktailed for years, and I will tell you that the number of servers who purposely allow their guest to get intoxicated in order to drive up the check is relatively fewer that one would believe. In CT, in the event of an "issue" the server is held accountable as well as the bartender who served the waitress the drink. The owner of the establishment is held liable as well. I would not worry about this.

This is often quoted as a reason- how often do you see people out of control drunk at Be Our Guest? Or any WDW TS for that matter. I personally don't have a problem with the people who drink around the world but those people certainly aren't doing it at TS restaurants. Also, who says that 2 drinks per adult at a two hour meal is the correct amount? There's a big difference between two mixed drinks, two glasses of wine and two beers.

And everyone is different. My husband is a big guy and on the rare occasions he drinks, he can handle his alcohol. Me? Not so much. Two glasses of wine and I am feeling pretty darn good.

?? What happened at Epcot? Did I miss something? The only thing I know about alcohol at Epcot is that if WS did not serve it, far fewer people would go there. The ability to get a beer/glass of wine/cocktail in the afternoon/evening is one of the main reasons why people go to WS. They certainly don't go to see fake scenery.

We go to WS to teach our kids about other cultures, meet the lovely people that work there from around the globe, enjoy the shopping, cafes, sweets, cocktails, shows ect...& to enjoy the beautiful, artful scenery that is really there. We might have 1 or 2 cocktails not that it matters, that's not what the question was about. God forbid Epcot turns into a place only about the alcohol. What a shame that would be. However, I haven't seen many issues with it @ Epcot but I find it completely unnecessary @ MK. Again, let the MK be ALL about the kids.
