Alcohol at Disney....

Typically at home I drink 2 to 3 beers a day with a weekend day being heavier 6 to 8. Call me what you wan with that but that is about what I do while at WDW. I will normally have a few drinks in the evening, waiting for fantastic, at the pool, etc with a drink around WS day. I know others may frown upon this but I say to each his own as long as your habits and vices don't disturb others then enjoy.

I am sorry, but your comparison is not logical. Drinking is legal (once you are of age). Pot and Cocaine are not. Drinking in front of you kids doesn't make them automatically want to drink. In fact, in college, the ones who drank the most (including underage) were those with the strictest parents who thought drinking was "bad".

Thinking of that classic 80s commercial when the father finds the teen's weed stash...."I learned it from YOU, Dad!"

The next line they edited out was, "you used to drink at Disney!!"

;-)

DH, myself and my in-laws drink at WDW (and yes, we have two kids who are 13 and 15) but we are not all sloppy drunk either. Partaking in 1 (or 2 or 3 or whatever) drinks is permissible on vacation as far as I'm concerned as long as it doesn't impede on anyone else and you do it responsibly. :goodvibes

With that being said, on my trip in September can we just walk into Rose and Crown and have a beverage or do we need to make a ADR? :wizard:

Rose and crown has a decent size bar that is separate from the dining room. There are several tables with chairs and several tables to stand around in the bar area. There aren't stools at the bar, but you can stand at the bar. Depending on how busy it is you may be able to walk in and sit immediately and you may have no chance of sitting for hours. There are several entertainers in the bar at the rose and crown, a magician and a piano player that have alternating schedules. There is also a limited pub menu available at the bar. No need for an ADR, just pop in the pub for a pint or a scotch, one of our favorite ways to pass an afternoon downpour, no pun intended.

Definitely - especially if we're visiting Epcot (helloooooo Grand Marnier slushies!)

We stay DVC, so usually have a full kitchen at our disposal. along with our grocery order we'll get a case or so of beer, some wine, etc. If we have a blender my DH will make frozens - virgin ones for the kids and adult ones for us!

To each his own - as long as everyone's responsible....

YUMMO!!

Where are these located???

My family enjoys drinking at WDW :thumbsup2. Just like we enjoying drinking on any vacation we may be on. We're not falling over drunk, but 3-4 drinks a day throughout the day isn't a big deal, especially when you're sweating buckets anyway.

I don't see anything wrong with parents who are with their children enjoying a beer or a cocktail or two. It's their vacation too after all. Once you're still able to maintain composure, not draw attention to yourself and still take care of your children - then you're good in my books! :cool1:

Well, after 9 pages of responses... you probably don't care about mine - but here it goes anyways.

We generally head to WDW during F&WF each year. We have two young girls (3 & 5 this year but we go every year, so they were obviously younger.) We keep a bottle of water with us at all times - for us and the kids to drink. My husband usually either has a beer in his hand or is working on getting back to one of the beers that he enjoys most. I have 3-5 drinks around the Festival that I really enjoy... and sometimes I will have them twice in one day!!!

Rarely do we drink so much that we act like 2 adults on an adult only vacation ;) and only if the kids are staying with my parents for the night :cool2:

We absolutely like to try different drinks at Disney! My husband had a blast trying different tequilas at the new place in Mexico at Epcot - he didn't even let me see the bar bill! Lol - I don't care - he had fun. And yes, our kids are with us, but we are adults and they know we enjoy to have a beer (or three) or some wine and it is vacation. It would be different if it were against our religion or something, or if we weren't over 21 (I'm way beyond that LOL) but we are of age and enjoy to have some!

It is expensive at the parks - some drinks at Epcot are a lot - but it's vacation so I budget that in. We also have it in the room, but honestly I always overestimate how much to buy! I find it's more fun to have it while we're out, then we get back and it's time to shower and hit the bed!

We also do bring beer (cans) or wine (plastic cup) to the pool - the kids swim and I relax and watch them in the shade with a drink. I can't imagine paying for a drink at the pool when I can just take it down with me - I am cheap about some things!

There are some days we have three or four drinks and some days we drink no alcohol at all. It's whatever we feel like within reason. We're responsible adults, it's our vacation and we try to enjoy it!

While I will usually only drink once a week at home, on vacation, I drink probably every day. Depending on the park we have our "must dos" (Yak Attack at AK, Dad's Electric Lemonade in DHS, many in Epcot...). In fact last week we were on the Magic and had 1 day in WDW. We met up with my parents in Epcot and had "lunch" at La Cava Tequila while the kids went out and got the snacks they wanted. :thumbsup2

One or two drinks is completely fine plus it helps deal with any cranky children! LOL :cool1:

We'll have a drink (or two:)) each night at dinner. And then occasionally at lunch, but only on the days we go to Gurgling Suitcase and Yak and Yeti.

Never had any liquor in the room tho--or poolside.

At Epcot, we like to walk around the World Showcase and have a few drinks.

On the other days, we would come and have a beer or two on the balcony and hang out while our kids slept.

We'll probably do the same when we go next week!

We don't drink much but we do have a couple drinks at Epcot, especially if we eat dinner somewhere in the World Showcase and then I like the Lapu Lapu and the Pina Colava at the resort.

:offtopic: One thing we are going to try this year is the wine tasting. My husband had read somewhere that you get a wrist band from either Germany, Italy, or France. It's $20 or $30 each but you get 2 samples of wine from each of those countries so we will more than likely try that this year. Has anyone else tried that?

Other than that, we are not big drinkers. :rotfl:

As long as you aren't being disruptive or making others uncomfortable (although, that feeling is relative,) I say go and have fun! You're on vacation! :)
