Albany or Buffalo?

Hi all,

We live in Ottawa, Canada, and are hoping to fly SW to MCO next time. Ding fares seem to be quite similar between Albany and Buffalo, and both are about the same drive from Ottawa. Are there advantages to one over the other, i.e., is one less busy, has cheaper parking etc.

Because of the increase in prices flying out of Toronto, a LOT of Southern Ontario residents are now flying out of Buffalo. The Buffalo airport has gotten a lot busier as a result. As an example, parking used to be no problem. Last year, I got one of the last few spots in my parking lot of choice a couple of times when I flew out of Buffalo.

If the drive times and flight times are equivalent, I'd fly out of Albany.

i am agreeing, although i love SW, we found the parking lot sooo busy.

Albany always has a lot of parking spaces and is not that busy. I have never flown out of Buffalo.

Also consider the new Allegiant Airlines service out of Plattsburg, NY, only one hour south of Montreal. That's considerably closer to Ottawa than either Albany or Buffalo, if the fare is good. However, Allegiant will be flying into Orlando Sanford, not Orlando International. If you're renting a car in Florida it wouldn't matter. But if you're using a taxi then Sanford would is considerably more expensive.
