Vancouver is very easy to get around by using public transportation (bus.) You really don't need a car. When we needed to transfer luggage we just took a taxi.
We have a group of 15 flying into Vancouver a couple of days before our cruise. We're staying at the Marriott Residence Inn downtown. Any recommendations on the best transportation options from the airport? We're not renting cars.
We stayed at the Days Inn in Vancouver. It was a basic hotel but just the right price for us. It was walking distance to stores and restaurants. The port was walking distance if you are in good shape and there is buses for some of the activities that leaves from there like Capiliano. And it was a short taxi ride the day we were leaving with our luggage.
We have gone 3 times to Alaska. Have gone in July and August seems to be warmest time. It was in the 70's. The third time I didn't even pack a coat. I just wore jeans and polo shirt, one day I did wear my Seahawks jersey. If you are used to cold you will be ok.. Sometimes June could be rain, so take an umbrella. Last time we went in August and sunny Tracy arm day it was in the 70's. We can drive to Canada since we are Washington state. Alaska has some beautiful sights you will never see on a Caribbean cruise. I believe it's something people should see. This sept we are going on our 4th cruise. This is the first time to the Caribbean. The Caribbean might be one of those one time things to say I have gone to different country besides Canada. This last time we stayed at the pan pacific and parked in the parking garage for the week. There is also outfits for Mickey Minnie goofy and Donald you will only see on the Alaska cruise cause they are for that cruise
My DD(20) and I went on this cruise last August. My daughter would only go to Alaska on DCL because she thought it was going to be boring. Well,
by the 2nd day after seeing whales, waterfalls, icebergs, she was hooked and was ready to rebook and it didn't have to be DCL. She really enjoyed the
snorkeling excursion in Ketchikan. The helicopter dog sled ride in Juneau and the Chilkoot train ride in Skagway (this excursion we booked private tour
thru Chilkoot Tours). We hope to take this trip again next year, but due to cost will be with a different cruise line. Your family will not regret this trip.
