Alaska Question

Our second day on the ship this past June was a little rocky. Other than that day it was a very smooth trip.

Yes. Most of the trip you are essentially sailing on a large river.

It's fine in Alaska, Vancouver island and Haida Gwai. Elsewhere the ship is exposed to the full waves of the Pacific where there is more movement.

No point at telling the captain to slow down.

Our Alaska cruise was less bumpy than any of the Caribbean ones. Your results may differ.

DCL uses the inside passage which tends to be calmer than other routes north. We found it calmer than the cruises out of Port Canaveral too.

There was a period between days 2-3 (sea days) where we were traveling in "open" water, before entering the inside passage. We could definately feel some motion at that time, but everything calmed right down as soon as we entered the inside passage.
