Alaska on July 19th, 2011 "Where a good tan is hard to find"

7 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

I mentioned on the Facebook group that it would be cool to have a chat night.

Any opinions as to when would be good?

If you're on Facebook and haven't joined the group, what are you waiting for??

Sorry to be a downer, but, keep in mind by joining this Facebook group, you're basically advertising to the world that your house is going to be empty from July 19 to 26, at a minimum. One of the cardinal sins of Facebook and the like is that you're not supposed to say "Hey, I'm on vacation" until you get back. At a minimum, just make sure that your Facebook account is properly locked down (only allow friends to see anything and make sure your friends are really friends). It would be nice if this wasn't an issue, but in this world, unfortunately sometimes it is.

I don't want this to get into a big debate, but isn't joining this thread advertising that you're going on vacation? ;)

I think that, after a year and a half of planning this trip, any if my Facebook friends that actually know where I live already know I'm going to Alaska in July.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

We are from Honolulu, I think the weather will be a little cold for us. :goodvibes
We have been on one other cruise to Mexico about 5 years ago.
I did read through some of the forums. There is alot of information here.
We are looking forward to cruising to Alaska, can't believe how time flies. It's only 2 months away.
Too be honest ... I am not the most high tech on the computer, but I'm sure i will learn alot from all of you.

Have a great weekend !!!

:cheer2:Welcome Aboard MickeyBoo :thumbsup2

Wow you're from Honolulu. Our family has never even been to Hawaii. Allen & I hope to go in a few years & stay at the new DVC Aulani resort that opens this Fall.

5 1/2 weeks for us :goodvibes. Thank goodness we have several people staying at our house while we're gone & then of course there's also our quirky attack dog.

I've never done a "chat" so I'm not sure what that is. I know I'm terribly technologically challenged. - I don't even know how to post a pic.

Robin I sincerely hope you get your passport in time!! How long ago did you send in for it & what the heck are they doing (or not doing) to move it along? :sad2:

Our twins grad party is Saturday, then after that I pull out the luggage & begin preliminary packing. Wow folks it really is coming soon! :cloud9:

This is sound & realistic advice. Even with friends controls/locks (not sure what they're called) sometimes our FB account can get hacked into by thieves looking for victims. For those of us who choose to talk about our trips ahead of time, & it's hard not to do so, we just need to be more diligent in placing protections in our homes while we're gone.

I don't want to get into a big debate either; my post was and is just a reminder to be careful.

The difference between this and Facebook is that Facebook has much more accurate information as to you and your whereabouts...your user name is your real name in most cases and many people put exact towns, etc. on there. By joining a public group, you're exposing much of that information to the public. And, of course, FB has over 250 million users in the US, which I suspect is a bit more than disboards. I'd like to think that people using Facebook aren't up to no good, but unfortunately, there are some that are.

Personally, I'd like to join that Facebook group, but won't, simply because of security concerns. My loss, I guess.

Anyway, that's all I have to say on the subject. Just be careful...and bring on the cruise!

We have 2 dogs and a roommate...and someone that will be here everyday checking on the pets and feeding them. As for advertising being away...you are right...we tend to go around telling everyone that we are leaving and the dates and post them all over the place and I to am guilty of this and have thought myself about advertising that we will be gone. Guess its ok to say we are going just not when we are going...like on FB...but we do and so do so many others all the time.

I think we are ok however with the chat between us.

on the lighter note...where the +_)( is my passport  hope you are right and it comes today....or at least this week. I think I will go and call them again. Good Grief!

Today is the last day of HS...:woohoo: both boys made Honors...however they still have Jello for brains.....:lmao: I was lying in bed and all of a sudden it dawned on me that they did not have their yearbooks....so i asked them and my oldest said "Well I didn't think you ordered us one"...I said " I have gotten you both yearbooks since you were in kindergarten why would I stop now" than I gave my 17 year old his 3 bottles of soda today and he said "Where are the cups"? well I replied " you didn't say anything about cups"! he said " well I figured since I needed bottles of soda you would get the cups with it" ....ummmm NOT I relied......

So off I ran to the store to get the stupid cups and dropped them off at the school.

My 14 y/0 woke up in a lions den today so stayed clear out of his way except for coming in and giving him breakfast. The teachers should have a fun day with him today because he left without his ADHD medicine :scared1: at least his finals were over already.

So yes last day of school...I have 2 months to sleep in and stay up late....well except for a week of computer programming camp and driving tests...otherwise.....sleep ...Yay me!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I have lots more I could add but I will leave it at that for today...have a great blessed day and chat later.

Hope that everyone had a fantastic holiday weekend. The weather here in Minnesota is finally warming up...lets hope that the rain finally stops.

I sent out a PM to all the parties involved in the FE exchange. We have 46 people participating in 18 rooms. Thanks to everyone who signed up, please reach out if you have questions!!

Robin, congratulations on surviving through the last day of HS. Congrats on the boys earning honors too! :thumbsup2

Thanks....right back at ya! :goodvibes

We can now say that we are cruising NEXT MONTH!!

yup....we are down for the count.....called about my PP today and they said it is still being processed.....I blame DH for saying when we were getting them done that they will never let the likes of me out of this country never mind let me into another one.....this is all his fault  and I need a drink :drinking1Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I'm gonna be at Disneyland tomorrow and Friday. Who's gonna be around??

DL again...me thinks you are an addict and Ned to chat with Dr. Drew :lmao:

I'll be around... I have the pleasure of cleaning tomorrow :laundy: but at 330 I have a meeting with a collage organizer....should be done with her by around 430 :thumbsup2

Why do you ask dear Tom?....

Driving down and will be there tomorrow through Sunday. Looking forward to Star Tours and new Ariel.

And I have a house and dog sitter ;)

Hi All!

First and foremost I hope everyone that is heading to the Park this weekend has an amazing time. I will be looking forward to hearing all about the Star Tours revamp and also about the Ariel Attraction. I saw an interview with the head Imagineer for the Star Tours revamp and George Lucas and it was interesting to find out that one of the things that they have done is to take advantage of the newer technology which allows for a unique guest experience each and every time you ride the attraction.

On another front, I am keeping my fingers crossed for Robin to FINALLY receive her Passport. I sure hope it was in her mailbox today.

In my little corner of the world I just did my once daily do we have a cabin yet check on the DCL website and... Oh Happy Day! WE DO!!! The DH and I will be ensconced in cabin 2513. No Pixie Dust but from what I can find out about the cabin it is quiet, conveniently located and since it is in the far forward section of the ship we will be in Alaska before almost everyone else :lmao:.

Now I can start to make my FE delivery deck plans. Pretty neat.

The other thing that I have been up to today is working on a couple of graduation cakes for some dear friends daughters. They are triplets and extremely good students, well two are and the third is finding herself right now... The two that are graduating are the in the top 1% and top 4% of all graduating Seniors in San Bernardino County. And since San Bernardino County is the largest county in California and one of the largest counties in the country that is not too shabby. Both girls will be going to college on full scholarships.

The thing that has been fun for me has been coming up with a unique decorating idea for the cakes. I do a lot of cakes for friends and family and the part that is most rewarding and enjoyable for me is the decorating of the cakes. The more interesting, challenging and different the better.

This one will feature a chocolate portrait of the girls and chocolate logos of the two schools they will be attending. If I can figure out how to get pictures somewhere to post them I will put up a picture so you guys can see what I am talking about. But, suffice it to say it is pretty darn cool.

In fact, I think it is time to take the portraits out of the fridge and see how they really turned out.

So... keeping my fingers crossed for Robin and rejoicing in my newfound cabin knowledge (2513 is going to ROCK!) until next time...

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Happy travels to those going to Disneyland! Can't wait to hear about the revamped Star Tours. Sending more pixie dust & prayers for Robin to get her passport too. Congratulations on getting your cabin #, Tisza. :goodvibes Wow, congratulations to your friends daughters, sounds like they worked very hard. Our twins grad party is in 5 hours & I'm hurriedly trying to get all the last minute, cooking, preparations, shopping & cleaning done. Think I will sleep well tonight. Would have loved to do the FE with you all, but with everything going on it would have been too much. Sounds like you'll all have great fun with it. :thumbsup2

As for "2513 is going to ROCK" I think that just might be TMI :scared1: :rotfl:

Tisza, I see you live in Claremont, CA I know where that is. I grew up in Southern Ca. Living in Fontana, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Fernando Valley, & Moreno Valley. I know Robin is in SoCal too.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

I wish we were able to go to Disneyland on the weekends. But I think the swim may be too far

I am not able to PM becuase I do not have enought posts.

Schachteles: Thank you for organizing the FE. We are new to FE's so we are open to anything.

Aloha,
MickeyBoo

Hi All,

Whew, the cakes are done and all that is left is delivery and then devouring. I wound up getting up early this AM and deciding that I needed another layer so I baked yet another cake. It is a good thing too because one of the first two cakes stuck in the pan and wound up not coming out cleanly.

Fortunately, I think it all looks good now. I just hope they taste good and that the girls like them.

Sharon, congrats on your boys graduation and I am sending you good energy for the upcoming party. I am sure it will be hectic but fun! We were in Claremont for 9 years (my DH grew up there) but we moved to San Antonio Heights last August. Six miles difference but in some ways an entire world away. Both cities are great but the house we are in now is far and away a step up.

I am sorry you won't be able to play in the FE group but I bet if you hang your FE the FE Fairy just might make a delivery :-)

MickeyBoo, I am glad you are able to join in the FE fun and look forward to meeting you.

Robin - ANY NEWS? Are you legal yet? I am past chewing my nails and have been reduced to gnawing on my knuckles. Hopefully, you will have good news soon so I won't get to the wrists.

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!
