Alaska on July 19th, 2011 "Where a good tan is hard to find"

Wow, thats surprising. For passports, all we have to do is go to the county courthouse. They even open one night a week for passports. No appointments needed.

When we did that about this time last year, it only took about 3 weeks with regular handling for the actual passports to arrive. I think they tell you about 6 weeks. So, I would think there's still plenty of time, but for those that don't have them and plan on getting them, I'd do it in the next month or so.

Our local post office takes the photos and processes the passport applications (well, takes them from us along with some $$$ and sends it off to the State Dept!). We're going this Saturday morning and didn't have to set up an appt.

My problem for the boys is that we have to take them on a Sat. due to school and sports...I could have done a walk in down town in the City but they said that they have been very busy that we were better to just do an appt elsewhere so we did not have to wait so long.

I dont know why here it is so stupid busy but it is.....even when I tryed to get in faster heading farther in the boonies...it was still busy. We have our appt in the boonies for me and DH...was a wait till mid April everywhere else. Was lucky to even get an appt for the boys on a Sat.

But we did and they also said that 8 weeks is the max so one can only hope:thumbsup2 They are no longer doing them in my town.

Just thought I'd follow up on this. We went to our post office this morning at 9a and it took about an hour to do the pictures and passport applications. If you look on the USPS website it will tell you which post offices do this and which have Saturaday hours (we wanted Saturday so as not to pull DD out of school). Some of them require appts, some don't - ours didn't.

They told us 4-6 weeks to process.

I did that's where I got all the places in SD to call....and call after call was by appt. Except downtown which was the only walk in and that was told the wait could be up to 2 hrs. Sure wish it was as easy here as is where you are!

do you live in a quiet part of TX? :confused3

Hi Everyone,

Starting to work on FE gifts so thought I'd check the latest count. Is the first post up to date? I think I count 10 cabins? (Not sure how many to count for Meskamooska). Anyone else? The more the merrier!

Also, I noticed our own listing there is missing a lot of info I totally forgot to provide! Here's our info:

CBEB
Cabin #7024
Charlie (DH)
Liz (DW)
Lizzie (DD14)

Can everyone also check on page #1 and fill in the blanks....I also have some info not all filled up yet. :thumbsup2

Well paid in full today. Nothing like waiting till the last minute:goodvibes

The next problen is to not just figure out what excursions we will be doing in Alaska but also in Canada in Whistler and Vancouver. So many choices.:upsidedow

I cannot believe how soon this is coming! Lots of decisions to be made for excursions and final plans for Vancouver. Still thinking of flying into Seattle for a day or so and then taking train to Vancouver.

Moving this week and next. Once that is done, full attention on the fun! :surfweb:

Glad to hear you had a great time!! We did a cruise on the Dream over our Feb. vacation. I enjoyed your pictures from your cruise and think it might be somewhere I will try to cruise. Getting the final arrangements done for our trip West for this cruise.

Our twins are going out to Los Angeles for a school band trip. They're going to tour the Academy awards venue, see Sony Studios & perform @ Disneyland plus much more. Oh I so wish I could be there.

I'm so not looking forward to the long drive to DIA leaving at 2:15 am. I'm going to chill out with American Idol, then try to get some sleep & get back up in 5 hours.

Ok Ok Ok I just can't stand being this this close to a :bride: & just letting it go. Allright now I can say goodnight.
