All of the advice I've found emphasizes layers layers layers. Also that we should be prepared for rain. So we have reasonabily light-weight jackets (easy to pack) that are water repellant and have zip-out linings and hoods. Then we plan to layer long-sleeved t-shirts and sweatshirts under that. I think this will probably work and will be much easier to pack than a heavy winter coat.
Good to know

We are from Minnesota, so we have plenty of cold weather gear. I like the idea of layering. I bought my daughters rain coats from Gap. I am just wondering how cold if will be if we take a helicopter to the glacier to spend the day at the sled dog camp?
