I posted this on the main cruise board, but figured I would post here too. According to Mouseplanet:

...The Disney Cruise Line will not offer fireworks for the Pirates IN the Caribbean deck party during the 2010 Northern European Cruises or the 2011 Alaska Cruises.

Has anyone heard anything about this???

Well that shows how long it has been since we cruised; I didn't even know DCL did fireworks! We cruised 3 times between 2001 and 2004, and none of our cruises had fireworks. I've been on these boards for soooo many years now, and I STILL learn something new every day!

Speculation is that it's probably cause the sun goes down so late in Alaska.

I still haven't seen it mention on any other websites or news agencies.

Hopefully when DCL actually annouces it, they will "spin" it a little better (maybe replacing the Pirates night with something new and exciting??).

We can only hope...it is sure fun to be about to have the fireworks.

Just checking in. I need to catch up on the thread here. I just did the 4 day wonder cruise on Jan 24 and was able to upgrade to the room we have booked for this cruise. I'm so excited I wish we were all going this summer!!!

I can go without the fireworks and can see them not having them since it is the summer and daylight lasts all day just about, but are you also saying they wont be having Pirate Night....but but but we love Pirate night! ARRRRRRRRRRR!

No. The report said that there would be no fireworks during the Pirates party, so for now, it looks like the Party is still on.
