Alaska on July 19th, 2011 "Where a good tan is hard to find"

I wanted to let you all know that I have been gathering port info out of Vancouver. Seems that from the Vancouver Port ; port Vancouver Ballantyne cruise terminal which the Wonder is suppose to dock at is about 30 minutes from the airport.

that is farther than I thought it would be. Will also find out about traffic to and from. I am hoping that the info I got about the 30 minutes is wrong. Long way for a cab ride. It says it is only 10 miles away however.

I have e-mailed the port to double check this and also asked about the other port and the distance that that one is from the airport. Seems that although scheduled to dock at the Ballantyne, it could be changed to the other also. It is not set into stone yet. But as of today it is out of Ballantyne.

For those of us that are heading in earlier for a few days that may want to rent cars I will also post that info as we move along. pirate:

Checked online and it is about $20 PP(Canadian) from Airport to the pier. So that is good. But may be more of course in 2011. Also the port has a shuttle service for around the same fee.

WOW...what a great woman!! I am trying to focus on the goodies to go IN them...I am hoping that mine will work well and be able to use it time after time.

She could get away with changing the bottom pocket on our old one.......

but if I know her, we'll be getting a new FE for this trip. Plus she'll make them for the other 5 (or more) cabins with us. Especially since none of them were on the last trip with us and don't have old FEs.

I'll have to remind her about it in....maybe.....600 days!?!?!?!?

According to the Vancouver FAQ thread, it's Canada Place. I knew I had read it somewhere.

the ports are close to each other

Canada Place
Port Vancouver's premier Canada Place cruise ship facility is located in the city centre, near excellent hotels, shopping, dining and entertainment. Its distinctive white sail design, five-star hotel, and the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre make Canada Place an attractive start and finish to any cruise experience.
Ballantyne
Ballantyne, Port Vancouver's second cruise facility, is located near the city centre and just minutes away from Canada Place.

here is another good info site...

http://www.bcpassport.com/vancouver-cruise/vancouver-cruise-info.aspx

Found this on that page....think I will do this....cant tellif it is $45 for all 6 or a piece?

Take a Limousine: Available from the airport and the Cruise ship terminal, limousines are an elegant way to begin or end your cruise. C$45 plus tax for 6 passenger limousines that holds 4 passengers and luggage. Limousines are waiting at the airport, outside both the domestic and international terminals and also at the cruise ship piers when you dock. To get a limousine from Ballantyne, use a white courtesy phone to call for a limousine. One will pick you up in less than 5 minutes.

Here's a map from that site.

You folks are the best. Do you think you can put some of the transportation info on our first page. That will make it easy to find when the time comes to make decisions.

Thanks so much. I am really looking forward to this cruise. It seems like it's filled with really nice people.

Yes I will....I have been searching for the best ones to put there :thumbsup2..if you look on page one I have posted some already!

Tom I saw that site....it has the news on it about DCL coming but does not sya what port...only that is is coming to

Vancouver....http://www.portmetrovancouver.com/about/cruiseandtourism/terminalinformation.aspx

So i just got off of the phone calling the Vancouver Terminal....I can call Canada for free if anyone ever needs me to check something out by the way.

Anyway they connected me to the person that has all the cruise info that handles where and when the ships will be arriving. The referred to her as the ship guru :lmao:

she told me that it has not been decided yet on which port terminal the DCL will be docking.

She said that Canada place is the largest terminal and docks 3 cruise ships at a time and is the most popular.

she said that Ballantyne docks the Princess and Carnival( think she said Carnival ) and a few others out of there and is a single terminal. Only one ship at a time.

She also said that it wont be finalized till April.

They have permits for the ship but not the docking location. Only permits to dock at one of the Vancouver ports.

She will also be sending me/e-mailing me other inf periodically :thumbsup2

Oh and by the way I asked her what the rate was from Canada to the all muighty US dollar and she said the $20 fee for the taxi is $17 in canadian bucks. That was her best math estimate:goodvibes

She sent me this already but it is the link that Tom and I were talking about...

Robin,

Thanks for your call this afternoon. We are just as thrilled to have Disney calling Vancouver in 2011! As mentioned, we should know by April 2010 –the latest, at what terminal the Disney Wonder will be calling. In the meantime, I am sending you a link to our website which contains information on all our ground transportation options from both terminals:

http://www.portmetrovancouver.com/about/cruiseandtourism/transportationandparking.aspx

Please feel free to call us again as we approach April so that we can keep you updated.

Kind regards,

Robin & Tom,

You guys are gooooood with the info. :woohoo:

We have no lives. :rotfl2:

Yeah we have no lives but we love popcorn::and pirate: not to mention :santa: ...this never hurts either:drinking1 :teeth:

Ya know I would figure that since DCL has never been there that Vancouver port will want to put it at it's nicest port figuring that people will as usual bring there kids to see Mickey Mouse wave goodbye and the Disney ship. You know, how that always happens at ports.

Not to mention that the ship will highlight that port for pictures in the newspaper. And you know they will take pictures of the Wonder. Why put it in the less nicer port for that pirate: Ya wanna show the the best port off:thumbsup2 Not to mention if ya want people to come back that have never been there before and all excited as we fanatics are about Disney in general....would you not also want them to see the nicest port in their grand city!

so that is my take.

I agree, thx Robin & Tom!:goodvibes

Another side note...when checking out hotels be sure to ask them to give you the US rate because when they give you a price it will be in Canadian exchange. Also be sure to ask how much in taxes...in other words be sure to ask for the full price in american $$$$$

As for the hotels that are on page one I cant say if they are in the US dollar or canadian dollar. I copied it from one of the other threads,,,,I believe it is from the vacouver thread.
