Alaska on July 19th, 2011 "Where a good tan is hard to find"

Last time we had a welcome aboard meet up on the deck during sail away and a sail away gift exchange. It was a blast! I don't know if it is too soon to start floating that particular boat, but is there any interest in doing that with this one?

I respectfully disagree with any plans for a sailaway meet. On my last cruise, that's when the meet was. I was up on deck 10, trying to meet new people over the loud music, and missed my son doing this:

I won't make that mistake again.

I like Gary's plan of doing it before the lifeboat drill. Lots of downtime then.

Q:
the swan and pirate awards??? Oh, do please enlighten me!!!!!:lmao:

a:
on our last cruise to get people to join in we had a game as follows:

pirates and swans:

Pirate postings - on the 2008 member cruise thread gary (okwmember) came up with the pirate game where each post ending in 00 got a pirate pirate: (and later we added each post ending in 99 got an elizabeth swan:bride:). We even gave prizes away at the onboard dis meet. I will volunteer to be pirate master . We'll have a small prize for the diser with the most pirates and the most swans at the onboard dis meet.

anyone can play along just let me know and i will keep a running total. It is a fun game and alot of people joined in.

I think we'll have a meet and greet after we board and before the lifeboat drill. I'll be awarding the Swan :bride: and Pirate pirate: Awards at that time. Not to be missed!!!:woohoo:

I am also for a pre lifeboat drill DIS meet, we had it on our last cruise inside at the Promenade lounge and it worked out perfectly. We even had a meet photo at the end. No need to try and introduce yourself and meet others over the roar of the crowd. I respectfully turned over the Pirate Master duties to its rightful owner and he is now in charge of the Fabulous, "Wonder"ful prizes. I will volunteer my asssistance in aquiring these if so needed.

Hi All,

Hope today was great! I am in on the pirate: and :bride: game (I love contests :-)) I am also in accord and defer to more seasoned cruisers regarding the time and location of an onboard meet up.

I am sure someone here has been on the Wonder before and can clue us in on where a good place to meet would be.

I hear tell that they have built a new observation space at the top of the ship just for the Alaska cruise.

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Tisza

DH Mel, DCL Magic 7/2/05, Wonder 7/19/11 and DL more times than I can count!

You're talking about the new Outlook Cafe. That would probably we a great meeting place, the only probably is it's in an adults-only area. Not sure if they enforce that on the first day or not.

Promenade Lounge might be the way to go. I think a lot of DIS meets use that space. Has anyone used Diversions or Cadillac lounge for a DIS meet?

We definitely would like our cruise meet to be before the safety drill too, if possible.:thumbsup2

How's the weather where everyone's at? Today in Colorado Springs we had a snow storm - hopefully the last of the season whichever season we happen to be in.LOL At our home we got a minimun of 7 inches of snow and school was cancelled for our boys today.

Next week at this time I'll be looking forward to spending a most relaxing day in the sun at Castaway Cay where I know a snowflake will be no where to be had.:cool1:

Hi All,

Meet and Greet before safety drill - check -
Sail Away gift exchange?
FE Gift exchange? I just learned about Fish Extenders and it sounds like such a blast!

I am also very excited to report that my BFF will be joining the DISboard in the next day or so. It is her family that will comprise the bulk of the members of the group I will be traveling with on this cruise (and also the same group that we traveled with on our first cruise in '05.

I have also been spending a whole heap of time learning all about door magnets and I may even try my hand at making a few myself! Thank goodness we have some time before the trip so that I have a chance to get up to speed!

I hope everyone had a great week and a lovely, relaxing Saturday. I will be hanging at the L.A. Festival of Books tomorrow and am looking forward to that.

Take care, help lots of people, have a great remainder of your weekend and a "Wonder"ful week.

I have never been on the Wonder, only the Magic. Same layout different names. Most of the time my cruise meets were always on the next day. Which was a sea day. The only time I had a meet before hand was the cruise that Tom is talking about. Had trouble also finding everybody with all the folks around and the noise.

At our meets we have done a white elephant kinda meet. We brought something from the town/State that we lived in all wrapped up and did the white elephant. It was fun and a nice get together. I still have my gifts and they are on my bookshelves.

We had time to sit down and relax and as we all know we love to get gifts. Some brought magnets, shot glasses, coffee cups ...stuff like that....Christmas time we brought ornaments. Dont have to do this...just a thought. We dont have to do it as a meet, but maybe somthing else on another day....a Sea Day.

I find the first day a very busy day.....but right before the life boat drill is fine with me...for at least 15 minutes of a hello. But a fun sit down meet on a sea day to really have a meet would be fun.

1 year and what 2 months away is way to far away....pirate:

The total number of days between Sunday, April 25th, 2010 and Tuesday, July 19th, 2011 is 450 days.

This is equal to exactly 1 year, 2 months, and 24 days.

OH MAN!!! Almost missed the 50 day dance!!!!!

:cool1::banana::woohoo::dance3::yay::rockband: :jumping1::bounce:party: :dancer::jumping2:

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Today is packing day for our 3 day Wonder Bahamas cruise. We're gonna swap the snow for the :cool2:sunshine. Castaway Cay here I come!:cool1:

Dismeet before the Life Boat drill sounds great!!!!!!

Hi All,

So I spent the better part of today investigating the Homemade Fish Extender thread looking at all the creative things folks have done and getting really inspired.

So... FE Coordinator Count me and my group in!

Tisza (Me) 43
Mel DH 51

We will be traveling with...
Barrett (BFF) 43 DW
Ken (41) DH
Serena (16) DD
Chad (13) DS

And a whole bunch more but I don't know if they will want to play or not but I will let you know.

I am still searching this thread to find out more about what others have already decided on since I am still new (but very enthusiastic) here. I am guessing that the round logo is the one that has been adopted for this cruise group. If there is anything else that I need to know, please clue me in!

I am anxiously awaiting the closing of an escrow (I am a Realtor) for my client's so that I can get my deposits in and get everything shored up (so to speak). The deal is due to close on Friday of this week so please keep your fingers crossed for me and my client's that it actually does. I don't know if I can stand to wait another weekend without having my reservation cemented.

Take care all, help lots of people and have a great day!
