Alaska * May 24, 2011

My first time to post, hope this gets to the right spot!

My DD, a confirmed Disneyholic has planned a wonderful cruise for us.
My DH and I are 2 of a party of eight. Our party is scattered over the ship and our room # is 7550. I've had a lifelong dream to cruise Alaska and can't wait to go.

Carnival Freedom - January 2011 - Panama

:wave2::welcome::wave2:

You made it to the right spot, if you're taking the May 24th cruise! Are you a life-long Louisianian? I grew up in Shreveport, although I now live in Minnesota. If you've never spent much time "up north", I can give you some pointers on clothing, etc., since I've made the switch from deep south to "frigid north". :rolleyes1:laughing:

Hi all,

I've been reading a blog by Laura Gilbreath on AllEars.net. She is currently on the inaugural Alaskan cruise. While she still has another day and a half to go there is already plenty to read. She has posted some great information about the ports, dining rotation, menu changes, show schedule, a few excursions and more. Plus there are lots of pics. Check it out. http://land.allears.net/blogs/lauragilbreath/
The first Alaskan cruise post is labeled Day 7. She took the repositioning cruise before the Alaskan one. The repositioning cruise is fun to read about too.

I feel bad, but I do not have enough FE gifts to include Bethd5. :guilty: I made 12 which, when the list was cut off, I had several extras but, even if I ordered more materials, they wouldn't be here in time. I will try to at least scrounge up things for the kids but you won't have a homemade gift from me. --Amy

No worries - Amy
We realize we're late to the party.

Look forward to meeting your family

Wow, after all that good food I just know I am going to gain weight.

Which leads me to another thing we will be celebrating on the cruise that we just found out about.

Broderick just got accepted to culinary school for next school year!!!

They had a mandatory meeting for 6:30 pm May 24th, or they would lose their spot. 200 applicants only 40 chosen.

We got an exemption. Just have to bring one menu home.

The homework is going to be so hard to help him with:wishforty.

I have a question about the FE gifts.
Is it ok to give a "package" of assorted things in each FE on a couple of
days ? I dont have enough home made things for each person every day.
I have never done the FE before but I have always wanted to.
I just want to make sure I am doing enough, dont want anyone upset
about what they get.....
I hope to finish most of my gifts tonight..
Cant wait to meet all of you.

Christy, don't worry about it, I don't think it's about getting things right and not having people upset at you.

I have put together one (1) package per cabin, some of the stuff is homemade other things are from where we live, oops don't want to spoil things.
I am getting excited about delivering them and hopefully everyone likes what is in the package.

All I know is this was so much fun to plan and gather stuff.:yay:

I agree with Disnanny - it's not about getting it right. It seems to me everyone does FE gifts differently. I don't have time to do something really crafty and even NYC trinkets add up - so mine is semi-homemade and every cabin gets the same thing.

As best I can tell, it's mostly about the excitement of returning to your stateroom to find a surprise waiting for you... and the thrill of tip-toeing through the hallways to quietly drop your gifts of for others. :goodvibes

Could someone please post an updated FE list with the new additions? Also, it ages of children could be included, that would be awesome!:worship:

When Bethd5 joined our group, the post they sent indicated they knew they were to late to join but were looking forward to meeting everyone. Some had indicated they have finished their gifts and or only ordered enough to cover the original iist. I haven't added them to the list but you never know what you may find in your FE.

This is the name tag list as of this morning (5/11). There are a few Dis-ers that I don't have names for and you know who you are :rolleyes1 (see the bolded ones). If you will just let me know by Saturday 5/14 so I can get them wrapped up I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I noticed a few disers have dd's around the age of 10 to 12. Which club are your girls going to? We have never cruised before, so I don't really know what to expect out of the kids programs (it's Disney so I know it has to be great... right?) My daughter is a very "social" type and likes to stay busy. I think she would prefer the tween club, but I guess we will just have to wait and see. I didn't post our room number on the previous posts, we are in room 8534. We are getting really excited about the trip, but it is very hectic around here with all of the end of school year activities. Are any of y'all dressing up for pirate night?

Not a big deal, but my DS is actually 2 instead of 1. (I've updated the list above); and we'll include Bethd5 in our FE list as well.

Now I'm getting my 3 year old DD all excited about getting onto the cruise as well.

Thanks again!

Lillian

Hi All:cool1:
I have not been feeling well lately and have not even been on the computer.:scared1:I am trying to get back to some line of normalcy for the cruise, I have promised my DW I will survive for the trip.. Any finished list for the FE is great as we are getting down to the last weeks now.. Going forward and never giving up:dance3:

If our costumes will fit into our luggage, we are! pirate: Especially since the new pirate movie should be showing on our cruise! It opens in theatres a few days before we sail! Woo Hoo! --Amy
