Please talk to me about Alaska. We are wanting to go in the summer of 2018 and I have never sailed anything other than DCL.
Will we be disappointed in the size/shape/service from RCCL or other ships?
Any help or advice is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
My wife and I have sailed on all of the Disney ships but for Alaska we sailed on the Celebrity Millennium. We went with two other couples and our biggest disappointment was the whole appearance of the ship. It was so underwhelming, we walked into the atrium and said 'This is it'? The patchwork of repairs, half a shuttle board court, can't the carpet on the stairs be replaced during dry dock? I think everyone in our group was wondering who picked out the artwork? And we missed the Disney entertainment.
But that is really our only complaint. The service was very good, the food was just as good, stateroom kept clean. I really really missed Quiet Cove Cafe! On the Millennium it was like your local coffee shop. Get in line, place your order, wait for it and find a place to sit. I liked being able to sit at the bar with my drink and talk with the barista.
If you go on a cruise just for the fun and the destination then I would highly recommend sailing on the Millennium. But if you are like my wife and me and also love paying attention to the details of the ship, Disney has them beat hands down!
