Anyone know how to get a decent deal at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport? Least expensive I can find with taxes is around $320.00 for the night we disembark....any tips/hints on how to get a better price?

Thanks.

I've been reading about hotwire for the pan pacific, but I don't know the truck for picking the right one. I wonder if your hotel might be on the site as well?

I can give you the trick for picking the Pan Pacific...I did it and got a great rate. Check out betterbidding.com it helps alot!! I found it by narrowing down my search - coal harbor area...5 star
and the Fairmont Airport isn't on there but thanks! Good luck with the Pan Pacific....I was so excited when I got it lol

Thank you! It looked like there were two that were close in terms of star rating so I figured either way it's probably fine!

How much did you get it for?

hoteldiscounts.com I just plugged in a random date at the end of June as you didn't say when you are sailing and it gave me $296/CDN a night.

Haha, nothing wrong with that! We are also hoping for Alaska in August 2016, but we live in Vancouver ;-)

Try "last minute travel". The Pan Pacific is 205 plus tax for our Hawaii trip. I always find them to have the best rates. You have to join the club to get the club rate, but it's free join.

We are booked on the 8/1 cruise...so excited! We will have a little time in Vancouver and hope to check out a few things.
I think you mean you are booked on the 8/3 cruise. The Wonder does not leave Vancouver on 8/1.

You choose a very busy weekend to be in Vancouver...
  • Fireworks competition August 1st
  • Pride Parade August 2nd
I hope you have planned out your downtown activities to avoid the Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon gridlock.

Good to know, but we are going in 2016 and I'm 99% sure it's 8/1, although I'm thinking we may have to contend with the same things if they are annual last wknd in July/first wknd in Aug events?

Ooops... I was thinking this year. Thanks for the clarification.

Yes, late July/early August has a long weekend where the downtown can get really busy and you need some congestion planning.

So, the situation of fireworks and stuff in vancouver in late July and early August came up....is this annual? Always a certain wknd? Booked on the 8/1/2016 cruise and figure if that's the case I want to be sure I book stuff ahead of time. Thanks for any insight...

Yes it is an annual event, called the Honda Celebration of Light. They are held on 4 nights, the Saturday night of the August long weekend (which is when you are travelling here) being one of them.

Thank you! We probably will come from Seattle on Sunday morning so we will miss the fireworks...

Due to cutbacks.... it's been reduced to 3 nights instead of 4 in recent years. Here's the details....
There is also fireworks on Canada Day on July 1st when the area next to cruise terminal is set on fire.
When fireworks cmes, traffic downtown is a mess.

The Pride parade is another day to avoid trying to get around downtown.

Oh I almost forgot... Aug 1st in Vancouver this year will also have a major concert.
