Morning Mooseketeers!!! :wave2:

Thought it was time to check in and give us a *bump* in case any others want to join the final Alaska cruise of 2011!!!

Last time I confessed that I was feeling a little concerned about the weather on this cruise, so I pulled out my Alaska guide book and an average of 66 degrees doesn't sound to bad at all - more like an English summer and certainly not what I experienced in Chamonix over the New Year!!! ;) So I'm still in!!! :thumbsup2

Anyway, hope everyone is keeping well and having a great 2010... :goodvibes

Well done hunny, we very much needed a bump!

I am so glad to hear you checked out the weather, 66 sounds very pleasant! :thumbsup2

Just thought I'd pop in for a minute to see what is going on. I am in the middle of planning another cruise in about 8 months, so that is where I've been. But wanted to see what's happening here.

Hope everyone is doing well. I think the weekly count down is great. Remember "yesterday" when it was like 93 weeks to go :rotfl2:. And WOW, 10 weeks have gone just like that. Amazing!

Hi Brenda!!!
So true!!! Can't wait for another 10 to go by!! And another... And another... ;)

I think a few of us have other ongoing cruise distractions (cruistractions???) at the moment. Never mind - our time will come!!! :goodvibes

Hi, Karen. I'm with you on that :goodvibes. And agreed. Our time will come.

(Post 1221 for me :cool1:)

Helloooooo cruisers!

My name is Jennifer and I'm from Maine, if you couldn't tell by my ID. My parents, Everett & Jeanette) & I (35) will be joining you on the last Alaskan Cruise and are as excited as you can be 580+ days out. We'll be in stateroom 6550 and as we're sharing a room this time (it's cheaper and I have to keep an eye on my mother) we'll be fighting over who gets to hang their fish extender outside the door.

In 2004 we did a 4-night cruise with other family members and in 2008 my parents and I were on the 15-night EB Panama Canal Cruise with Terri & Susan, though the 15-night turned into a 10-night for us as my mom got sick and we had to jump ship in Aruba. I also did a 7-night western with my nephew in 2005.

We're already planning to fly in early and spend some time in Vancouver. After the cruise, we'll be flying to Disneyland for a couple days too as we didn't get to see or do much before the 15-night cruise.

Not sure how much I'll post for a while as I'm crazy busy with work and planning another vacation, but had to post as I FINALLY remembered my DIS password and haven't been able to get on until recently. Hope you all don't mind, but I'll be taking our ship for a spin 3 weeks from tomorrow. I'm taking my niece (16) and nephew (13) for 4-night cruise during Feb school vacation followed by 2 nights at BCV. <sigh> It's not long enough but any Disney Cruise is better than no Disney cruise!

Cheers!

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer, welcome aboard.
Nice to see someone from Maine, where abouts in southern Maine are you from?
I have a summer cottage in Lyman, great place for summer vacations!
My wife and I will be bringing our moms along with us on this trip, first cruise for my mom and second for MIL.

Have fun on the your up coming cruise.

 Thought i'd check in & say hello everyone. Hope you are all keeping well.

Man, I thought I was really early booking this cruise, and here you guys have already been partying for MONTHS.

We (DW and I) are actually cruising with friends; both couples are mid-50's, without kids, but wanted to do Disney in Alaska. DW and I have done Alaska on Princess, and both couples have done multiple DCL cruises out of PC. We're both on deck 7, with cat 5B cabins on port and starboard, so we figure we can always break into each other's rooms for the best views.

Hi guys!!! And a Happy Tuesday to you all!!! :cool1: :woohoo: :cool1:

As part of the countdown, I going to remove a line of the Dancing Bananas/Veggies every 8 weeks (there are 8 dancers per line so there's a method to my madness... ;) ) and hopefully it'll feel like we're progressing ever closer to our cruise!!! :goodvibes

That's a fab idea hun. :thumbsup2 Lets ditch that fruit & veg!!!! :woohoo:

Hmmm, seems I'm not loquacious enough to send a PM yet ... so here's our info for this cruise:

fshagan, 7112, 2nd Dinner Seating (no FE)
Frank (55)
Jan (54)

I notice that we are the oldest people listed so far. How the heck did this happen?

While its still very early, I thought I'd recommend an excursion we have taken in the past (and have already scheduled for this trip in 2011.)

Harv and Marv's Alaska Whale Watching is one of those small, family owned businesses that gives personalized service. They take up to 6 people on small boats out for whale watching, so if the idea of being on a small boat doesn't appeal to you then this isn't the trip for you! The boats are enclosed with a good sized deck if the weather is good, and you can get some fantastic pictures.

We saw several whales, and had sea lions come up to the stern of the boat (the skipper stopped the engines when he saw them coming up to us; they scrupulously adhere to the environmental laws). I got a lot of great pictures, including a whale fluke and the sea lions.

I can't post links or pics yet, but you can google the company name to find their site (or maybe PM me).

Not by too much - and I do believe 50's are the new 40's!!! ;) Or something like that, anyway... Now you come to mention it, I'm still having trouble grasping the notion that my DH and myself will be 48 on this cruise!!! :rotfl2:

That sounds fabulous, Frank!!! Thank you very much for the tip - whale watching is definitely something I'm keen to do so I've bookmarked the website... :thumbsup2
