Alaska ~ 8/13/12 ~ Midnight Sun Mouseketeers!

I am so excited to leave tomorrow!! Our plan is to drive to Medford, Oregon, and arrive in Seattle by Saturday afternoon. The whole trip should be about 18 hours driving, not including stops. I still have yet to finish packing, but I'm about halfway done.

On a funny note, found out some friends sailed this week on Princess to Alaska from Seattle. They arrive at port Sunday, so we may go greet them as they disembark. I also found out my cousin is heading out to Alaska on Princess this Sunday, so we may meet up for dinner Saturday night. We're going to miss each other by days in the same ports, so I think it's pretty funny.

We will be there at the lounge at 3 pm to meet up with you all!

One thing, my palo reservation is still showing up for my hubby and I for the 14th. I assumed it would be cancelled since we were included in the group palo brunch. Will this be updated as we check in to the boat?

Just getting our FE stuff together, and we'll definitely be able to include the extra folks! :) We leave for Detroit tomorrow!

Drive safely! You shouldn't have any problems with the double brunch -- if they don't fix it before you walk on the ship, they'll certainly do so while you are on the ship. It might not hurt to double-check with the dining reservation people when you board.

For any of you staying at the Sheraton Seattle: If you happen to see a couple in the hotel that has two precocious eight year old girls in tow, that is probably me! Do come up and say "hi!" We are staying there for three nights. We leave for Dulles airport tomorrow in the wee hours of the morning and arrive at SEATAC late morning. Gotta love the three hour time zone difference!

This cruise is in memory of my dad who lost his struggle with leukemia a few years ago. He had just celebrated his 70th birthday. One of his greatest regrets was never seeing Alaska, so I will be carrying him with me in my heart and enjoying all of the sights for him.

I am so looking forward to a great cruise with all of you! I can't wait to meet you!!!

Ugh-- I am struggling with what shoes to bring, particularly for the port adventures. We are doing:
Alaska Nature and Wildlife Expedition
Whale Watching, Salmon Bake and Mendenhall Glacier - Adult Only Departure
Rainforest Wildlife Sanctuary, Raptor Center and Totems

I'm worried about the wet and possible mud-- I was going to bring my running shoes, but I don't want to wreck my good training shoes. But if I bring my old ones, that means I have to find space for 2 (actually 4 for both of us) pairs of running shoes. Something will have to go!

Any thoughts?

It's 11:00 and I'm finally ready to crash. We are staying the week after to do some touring, so we each have a cruise bag and an after cruise bag! lol

My dear friend texted me a pic of the Wonder in port at Skagway. She also said the weather was chilly and rainy all week. Let's hope we do better!

5:00 am will come early, gotta get through LA before the traffic gets bad!

Looking forward to meeting you all!

We are leaving in 2 days!!!!! Today is my final prep and pack day!

I like everyone am SOOOOO excited!!!! Got all my documents printed and went to the bank now to pack!

I have FE for all as well!

See everyone at 3 on Monday!

We are staying at the Warwick Seattle so maybe I'll see some of you there!

Safe Travels!

Stephanie

We had such a seamless flight to Seattle. We grabbed a taxi and when the person in charge of taxis saw us approaching he whistled for a van! Cost of fare was $40 + tip for the four of us in a huge van to the Sheraton. And when we walked in, our room was ready!!!!!

And to top it all, it was super sunny! So happy!!!!!

We are overnighting in Oregon, and hops to be in Seattle around lunch time tomorrow. I think we may do the Museum of Flight before checking in. It was a favorite of ours years ago...hope it's still great!

Welcome to Seattle! I'm so glad it's going well for you so far. And your weather the next couple of days will be outstanding! Enjoy and we'll see you soon. I wrapped up work at about 6:30 tonight, then did some shopping - still have to make a packing list, let alone pack. I should have pretended we were flying out a day early and gotten ready sooner - ha!! :rotfl2:

I don't know how I am going to make room, but I am trying to bring my old running shoes and my training shoes. I have to train while I am on the cruise, b/c I am training for my first marathon (Disney 20th) :), so let me know if you need a running buddy. I have hiking boots, but thought I would just bring my old running shoes instead since I don't think we are actually going to hike. So excited! We are leaving early in the morning and staying at the Hyatt Place Seattle overnight and plan to tour Pike's Market tomorrow. Never been to Seattle so excited about seeing the city. See everyone soon!!!!

Hey Lindsey-- how awesome you are doing the WDW Marathon! I'm training for the DL 1/2 at the end of the month and then the TOT 10miler at WDW (crazy, I know). I had to get 12 mi in this weekend. I don't like to run on the treadmill, and I probably can only go around the ship about 10 times (which I think is ~ 5K) before I get bored!

On Board, sitting in a lounge chair on Deck 9 looking out to the mountains. This has been almost three years in planning and now it's finally here. I missed you, Wonder!

Thomas

Meet and Greet is at the Promenade Lounge at 3pm! FYI: According to the Navigator, DCL shuts down ship services at 3:30 to get ready for the 4pm muster drill!

My family is so excited to be on board this WONDERful ship!

Hello fellow Disers I am so excited that you are all on the ship and the chances of you actually seeing this are very slim. However if you want to see some fun and excitement on Sunday when you are in Victoria I will be at the front of the wonder around 7pm waiting to surprise my DD11 and DD9 with the news that on September 10th they will be going on the Wonder down to LA. We have a big sign and I will have some balloons and a video camera and my kids will be the ones screaming and crying as this has been a dream of theirs for awhile. I hope you have a great trip with spectacular weather.
