Alaska 2016

From my research on last years cruises, the rotation was most often something like this:

Day 1 - embarkation - standard rotational menu, cruise casual
Day 2 - sea day - standard rotational menu, formal night
Day 3 - sea day/Tracy arm - standard rotational menu, cruise casual
Day 4 - Skagway - Frozen menu, cruise casual
Day 5 - Juneau - Toy Story menu, semi-formal night
Day 6 - Ketchikan - Taste of Alaska menu, cruise casual
Day 7 - sea day - Till we meet again menu, cruise casual

As others mentioned, so far no frozen night is showing up so far, but they could still do the menu. It seems like almost every year the rotation went through some shuffling around, and I would expect this year to be the same. I think we'll have to wait and see when the first few cruises come back.

Aby

I was on the August 10-17th Alaska sailing last year. The dinner schedule menu above is correct and very accurate. We did have a Pixar/Toy Story night and a Frozen night. No pirates night.

Based on your advice last year for the first wknd in Aug, I booked the Pan Pacific really early. We have two days in Vancouver, Sat (1/2 day) and Sunday. Doing a morning whale watch on Sunday (seeing orcas is something DD11 and DH want to do above all else so here's hoping) and Saturday hoping to do Capilano. Understandably, the traffic (pedestrian and vehicle) will be nuts the whole wknd so I'm keeping my expectations low.
Just want to clarify.... Are you on the August 1st Wonder sailing? Or the August 8th sailing?

The first August weekend is August 6/7, but this year... the crazy weekend has been moved earlier to July 30/31 for the fireworks and pride festivities in Vancouver.

Yes, we are on the Aug 1 sailing so that does make it the last wknd in July. We know it'll be crazy!!!!

I am on the May 30 sailing and there is a frozen deck party listed for day 4, the day we are in Skagway :)

Funny thing, we're on the June 13 sailing and when I did my online check-in (at 90 days) there was nothing showing up for the Frozen party, just the Pixar party as previous folks have mentioned, but now when I log in it shows up on Day 4 as well. I guess they may still be sorting things out.

Palo options for July 4th 2016 Alaska
Day 2: Brunch and Dinner,
Day 3: Brunch and Dinner,
Day 4: Dinner.
Day 5: Dinner,
Day 6: Dinner,
Day 7: Brunch and Dinner.

The 15th - to the 22nd, so our PIF date is mid April. Like you, I booked a year ago and I left it be until recently because it seemed so far away and now I'm getting so excited gathering all the information I can. I will probably get to hear about your trip before we go if you post about it!

I'm on that sailing, too!!

We are on the July 25 sailing and are really excited! Check in is coming up soon! Any input on excursions or what not to miss at the various ports? I've been researching different companies for excursions and interested in hearing what you may have found. Thanks!

This summer the Alaska cruises aren't showing a special frozen night ☹, just the Pixar party, which is late afternoon, so I don't know if that will change once on board.

how do you see that it's not a Frozen night on the Alaska Wonder? i was so excited for Frozen Night for my 3 year old. We know nothing about Pixar... i hope that this isn't true...

When your check in opens, it will list the daily activities. The only thing showing on mine is the Pixar party on Juneau afternoon.

thanks. that's so disappointing to hear that there isn't a frozen night.
Don't give up hope! If you read through the thread, 2 people have seen the Frozen night listed for day 4, the 5/30 and 6/13 sailings. I'd expect all the sailings to have it. DLgeeks (the 6/13 sailing) said it wasn't listed when she did online checkin at 90 days--but now it does say it. They may be adding it 'last minute' if they're still deciding which day to have it. The Pixar one is the same day as the Toy Story show/menu--and as they've been having the Pixar one for years, it makes sense that it just shows up for that night. The Frozen one they've only done for 1 cruise season so far.

When we sailed on the Halloween cruise, our Halloween night wasn't listed and our Pirate Night was listed, but then changed at the last minute. So I wouldn't take what the online activity guide is showing at face value.

I think there are some funky things going on with the website, as I said before, it wasn't there when I first checked in, then it was a couple of weeks later, now (today) it's not again. Someone in my cruise group said they called directly and DCL confirmed that there would be one. We should have a better idea once this season's cruises start coming back at the end of May.

On my first Alaska cruise I was still silver and was unable to book Palo but read the Navigator and ran over lots of people (joking). Just move with purpose to where ever they are taking reservations and have dates, times, number of people ready (oh and know your cabin number!) so they can search efficiently). If your cabins aren't linked you'll probably need representatives from both--and if y'all want to do other things that require tickets (Meet and Greets, liquor tastings, etc) might want to divide and conquer.

As for excursions, I'm sure you've done a lot of research but here's my two cents...I went on one in late July and assumed I'd just see whales from the boat. My DM booked an excursion and I mocked her. Guess who saw lots of whales and who saw only waves? So the next year when I returned, guess what the first excursion I booked was? Now obviously your experience will be different, but please think of what YOU absolutely want to see and do in Alaska and do your best to do it (for the record my first cruise I went on a bear expedition...and it was too early in the season...not a one was out...so sad...but at least I got to ride in a floatplane :I ).

So, just in case you haven't heard, Frozen parties/menus/activities have been added to Alaskan cruises for summer 2016. I don't know if it's all of them, but I checked my "cruise activities" page on the dcl site just now & there it is. It's listed for the evening we are in Skagway. Hope that helps everyone!

Bumping to see if any recent Alaskan cruisers have any new menu's or can verify the rotation of the specialty menu's. I thought I read that the Taste of Alaska menu wasn't served, but that seems odd...
