Alarm Clocks at SSR?

Why would it be dead when plugged into the wall sitting on the night stand?
Oh that's right. They removed the alarm clock so you could plug in your phone. But I still have to pick it up, unlock it and do something in order to see what time it is. Not so with an alarm clock that's just sitting there showing the time 24 hours a day.

They have apps, free even, that turn your phone into a display that resembles an alarm clock. Turn the brightness down and all problems are solved.

Unitasker appliances, what a waste.

A better use of maintenance dollars would be installing USB outlets.

For you maybe, but I have no use for USB outlets. Total waste of MY maintenance dollars. You see, we'll just have to agree to disagree. I could care less what Alton Brown thinks.

The world is in constant transition from one type of technology to another.

I stand by my alarm clocks are now a thing of the past. 10 and under, 100% see them as a waste. 20 and under, 95%, 30 and under 70%, 40 and under 50%, etc....

Cell phones already killed the point and shoot camera industry. Clock radios must go too.

Do they include DVD/blu ray players in all rooms still? Both are being made irrelevant by online streaming. They are something else that if not already will soon be removed from all rooms and the DVDs that can be borrowed will be replacing by a streaming service like what is on the DCL ships.

I can see those that prefer a clock, I do too. However, I don't think there's any way to make the case that it's a necessary component to have in every room in a hotel or timeshare in 2017. The reality is they're OFTEN the wrong time and it's not uncommon the alarms are set and go off at odd hours, sometimes in the middle of the night. I know they had a stash to bring on request but I suspect that will evaporate eventually. Some try to make the case it's a safety item and it can be but most hotel rooms don't give an accurate location if you call 911 anyway so I don't think that's much of an issue. If DVC doesn't have them just get a travel clock or iPod.

I leave a small alarm click in my Owner's locker. I used to have a travel alarm clock that I travelled with; now I use my phone when not in Orlando.

I used to travel with a small battery powered alarm clock but then once I joined the current century a few years ago and got a smart phone (in order to be able to communicate with my teenage DS) I started using the alarms on the cell phone. I no longer have to worry about the power going out overnight and the alarm not going off. They are actually super convenient. I have multiple alarms set for daily mornings - one for my DH to get up, one for me to get up as we get up at different times, daily pill reminders etc. I use them to remind me to mail things, to call people, to book flights at 6:30 am when SW releases flights ETC. I am pretty stubborn with regard to changing technologies but I have to say this one is just a no-brainer. The apps available (i.e. Gas Buddy to find cheap gas, maps to see traffic, apps for the bank - I can deposit checks and transfer money between accounts without having to physically GO to the bank, the monthly calendar, I use MousePerks to see Disney discounts at various restaurants, MDE to make plans at WDW and to see wait times, park hours, upcoming reservations & FP's - all super, super helpful and ultra convenient... I for one am glad to live in this century.

I really don't care about the alarm - it's the clock. Disney has all these things they want you to schedule and then they take away the timekeeping device in one of the rooms.

Sorry, it's still just stupid IMO. And I haven't run across it anywhere else - not even Disneyland. Vegas didn't have a bedside clock but they had a bedside tablet. If one really wanted to be progressive in standards that's what WDW would have to add.
